Hobart n -50 where do i put grease in, machine makes a grinding noise

If your N-50 is making a grinding noise there is a strong (almost certain) possibility that the cause is more than just needing more grease.

The sources of the noise are from the transmission case (front portion of the motor housing) and/or the planetary (where the blade attaches).

A search online should turn up the N-50 Service Manual.

With luck, it may be that the two adjustments specified in the Service Manual will do the trick

Three things come to mind regarding the noise:

1) If simply greasing the planetary does not do the trick, then

2) There are two adjustments to the transmission detailed in the Service Manual. And if that is not the cure

3) The transmission housing will need to be removed to find the source of the grinding. This is where the grease is truly encountered.

Noise in stering colum only when i drive staight, if i turn wheel one way or other noise stops

if you are drive straight all the time than that part of is getting worn out. you mite see if the are any type of grease points on the steering
column, the grease in the center or as you stated driving straight it make alot of noise, the grease has broken down and now it is metal on metal or plastic on plastic. where as you turn right or left it picks up a little grease and soon you will start hearing the noise in any direction because the grease is braking down or drying out.

make sure there enough fluid in the steering control box, mite look for a condition fluid.

2006 Cadillac DTS makes noise when the wheel is turned, noise started after wheel bearings were replaced in the two front wheels

If it's a "squealing" sound - check the power steering fluid. If it's more of a grinding sound - then the wheel bearings were not properly "packed" with grease. Note - the grease needs to forced into the bearings by hand while rotating the bearings. I had a this problem myself when a "mechanic" just smeared some grease around the bearings.

Creaking noise when turning steering wheel

Grab a grease gun with a needle fitting. Puncture your ball joint boots and grease them internally. They might just be dry and the fitting might not be getting grease where needed. Try that.

My honda crv 2000 will make a strange noise when making sharp turns. particularly i notice this noise will sound when just making a turn in the snow. could this be a drive shaft needing grease or something...

It ot is a clacking type of noise and is present only really when making sharp bends I am afraid that either one or both of your CV joints have worn out. It is easy to detect which by listening to the source of the noise. (Grease alone will not fix that problem).

VAN IS MAKING NOISE WHEN YOU MAKE LEFT TURN

It really depends on the noise. If it is a grinding noise or a popping noise then your tie rods need grease. If they do not have grease zerks then you will have to get a hypodermic needle from auto zone and punch a small hole in the boot. Do not worry, grease will not leak out of the hole because it will close back up when the needle is pulled out. I have been doing it to my cars for years, it only extends the life of this part.

Car makes noise like a dry wheel bearing only when turning right-rotating tires makes less noise for a while but is still there and steadily gets worse. Nothing is loose in the front end-noise has been...

Look again under the car. Check the CV joints on the side making the noise.

CVs are cover in a rubber "boot" and contain grease the lubricates the joint. Look to see if the boot is torn. If so the grease is lost and the joint will wear and make the exact noise you describe.

Start there as it is a simple and likely issue from your description.

Hope this helps

"whinning", dry grinding noise from under riding mower

all bearings that run belts & pullies should have grease zert fittings to lube the bearings with a grease gun check if there is fittings then use a small needle or punch to push down on ball on top of zerts to make sure they are free to alow grease to enter grease them till grease comes out from under neath or the top of bearings
