The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Depending on the operating system, you might find an appropriate driver at

Canon Powershot A560. Just recently everytime I turn on my camera I have to re-set the time and date. (which will only last while camera is on - otherwise defaults to all 0's). This becomes an issue...

Open your battery door. See this picture. Notice the little door saying CR1220? Pry it open with your fingernail. The enclosed CR1220 battery is the camera's "watch" battery for time and date. Sounds like it may be "time" for a replacement. Take the battery to your local drugstore to purchase a replacement. Don't know why, but drugstores seem to have this battery at a more reasonable price (~$3) than W-Mart or other retail store (~$7).

I want to print photos but don't have a software to download .

You don't need special software to download your photos.

You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto on Mac or Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ) on Windows.

Any of those photo cataloging programs will have a print capability as well.

When downloading photos to the computer from my powerShot A560,must it always go back to the complete memory card, and not from where we left off.

You could use a card reader instead of the camera. Then, you could choose and highlight only the ones you want to download.

Lost my Canon PowerShot A560 disk

As a solution I highly recommend that you forego the old cable to the camera route, and instead consider a card reader to download your photos to your computer. Card readers are very inexpensive, much much faster downloading photos from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.

You place the camera's card in the reader, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For all of these reasons, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. Really, you'll save yourself a lot of headache. Here are some examples from Amazon. Also, don't be fooled by the cost. some of the cheap ones work just fine. Go by the reviews. Also make sure you get a reader that is stated capable of reading your card (particularly if you have an SDHC card):

For international readers, here's another source for card readers (free international shipping too :-)
