Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden
Check the coil by removing the upper shroud let the engine run until it shuts down. NO LONGER THAN 5 MINUITES. or you can have heat issues. With gloves on remove one of the spark plugs plug the wire into the spark plug ground the threads to the motor try turnning over the engine. If no spark is seen gap the coil 10 thousanths on both sides. No need to remove the rust on the armature. I find it easier to use two feeler gauges between the magnate and the coil. Retest it if it dies disconnect the yellow wire. If it runs then it's a switch ie: break/clutch blade lever reverse lever and the seat. clean them with break cleaner. If it doesn't run or fire then replace the coil. Hope this helps:
