Hunter Bayport Fan

Fan turns only at low spreed. Cannot reverse direction. Prior to this, it was working ok and I switched direction without stopping the fan. There was an ubusual buzz and now the fan can turn in only the one direction and a low speed.

Thanks for the advice, but I am not sure which is the 'running' capacitor. There are two: one is a single 5mf cap and the other is a dual 5mf which has one end of each connected common.

You need to get the running capacitor replaced then it will work fine and its a very low cost part.

I have a Hunter fan and now the pull chain that turns the lights on and off has stopped working. What do I need to do to fix this?

You need to buy & install a new light switch. Should be a two wire switch that you should be able to find at Home Depot, Lowes or a real fan store.

High and Medium don't work, only low

Check your capacitors to see if they're bad. That's the black box near the pull chain switch with wires going to the switch. If bad call 1-888-830-1326 Hunter parts.
2 wire part # 74132-01-000 ( probably not this one)
Other capacitor part # 74133-05-000 (probably this one)

Hunter ceiling fan 22450 no reverse switch manual says there is.

The reverse switch usually is in the lamp housing directly under the motor. With a vaulted ceiling installation, you would need to use a ladder to get access to the switch

Hi I need to know if I can switch the direction my hunter green Lasko fan is turning it is going clockwise and I would like to reverse it for the summer can't find a switch we've have it for...

Turn the fan off. Locate the reversing switch. It is on the base of the fan near the fan speed and light switches. if its not on the remote control. have a good day !!
If it does not have a revesing fan switch and its older, You may have to physically(with fan stopped)
Push blade in from end and twist blade for reverse air.

The fan probably needs to be oiled? just stops

Does it slow down and stop after it has been running a little while (having had a chance to warm up?) Try this simple test with the fan cool and warmed up--- With the switch off, gently rotate the fan by hand. It should rotate very easily, and should coast to a stop not too abruptly. It should be about as free, and coast not quite as long, as the front wheel of a bicycle in good repair held off the ground. If it doesn't rotate freely, then yes, it needs oil. You might be able to get some oil on the bottom bearing without disassembly, so that's worth a try, especially if the fan is harder to turn warm than cool. If it's the same warm and cool, there's a good chance that there is hair wrapped around the shaft, and you will probably have to disassemble it to remove that - and while you are at it you can oil the top bearing. If it DOES rotate freely by hand, then you have a problem with the motor or the speed control, which is a whole other story.

Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

Read this on another thread - apparently the solution came from HB's tech support.
Turn the fan speed to HI and then select Reverse.  You should hear a "click" and see the fan reverse direction.  It seems that the reversing relay only works when the fan speed is set to HI.
Good Luck!!
