Question about GE A730 Digital Camera

1 Answer

White streaks on all photos but not video

I have a Canon A95 and have never dropped it. I was taking a photo indoors and the picture came out fine. I took another photo a few minutes later and the photo came out faded with tons of white lines going through it. I tried different settings, changed camera cards and even used the timer to take the photo. Nothing helped. The video recorder still works. The shutter makes a ton of noise and you can see the it open and close. While it opens and closes the picture on the display goes bright and then regular, bright and then regular. Then it takes the photo with white lines throughout. What is weird is, nothing changed from the time I took the first photo to the second. i have a GE A730 that I received for a gift in August. We haven't had any problems until I tried to use it yesterday at the zoo and was getting the horizontal white lines through out every picture in various lighting conditions with and without flash. I tried different batteries, a different memory card nothing helped. The vidoe works fine. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like the shutter isn't working properly.

It should be looked at by at technician.

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

The following has only just started happening - Still images are captured in a very grainy and washed way. Where as captured video footage is fine. Please help.

The Canon A95 has been known for taking noisy and grainy photos. Try using a low ISO setting of 50 or 100 to see if that helps. Using auto ISO or ISO above 100 will put more noise/grain in your photos. Also, always shoot in the best lighting situation possible. The more light the better. You can always improve your photos with good editing software too.
I hope this helps and good luck!

LCD screen and pictures go completly white

The camera is defective. But as you've only had the camera three months it still is under warranty. Canon is usually very responsive to these type of problems and will bend over backwards to make things right (probably the most responsive of the camera companies).

Call 1-800-OK-CANON to resolve this issue.

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera prepaid to Canon in New Jersey, they are replacing the CCD at no charge to the customer. This is a known issue and is resolved by many of the manufacturers using the Sony CCD element in their cameras at no charge. Good Luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
