Hi,
Some models designed today or in the last 10 years use a super cool model prior to defrosting, this is in two models off the top of my head, Kitchen Aid, and GE or more common. This is to protect the food in the freezer, so the drop the temperature within the compartment to allow temps to rise in defrost mode without affecting the temperature of the food. What you see is cabinet temperature in the display, if you unit fails to produce ice of notice food not frozen then I would be concerned. It sounds like this is what your talking about. I would not worry, this is normal to most units today. If you are still uneasy, you can alway call the manufacture and inquire about temperature issue that you see. Most units use a variable speed compressors and is designed to drop temperature faster after defrost than any other time.
I would not worry as long as it holds temperature and produces ice on demand.

Freezer section working, but refrigerator section will not drop the temperature below 50 degrees.

You have a defrost problem. Remove the cover in the freezer and see if coil is blocked with ice.
If it is defrost it with a hair drier, check heater, timer, defrost thermostat.

I have a kenmore upright frost free freezer mod #253.26432100. A couple of months ago everything defrosted and the unit was not running at all. I unplugged it cleaned it and plugged it back in, it turned...

You have a problem with the ADC.

Frigidaire has also jumped into the market with an adaptive defrost board. The fresh food section light switch and light bulb must work. To initiate a defrost cycle, open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds. The compressor and fans should shut off and the defrost heater should come on. Open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds to remove the refrigerator from the defrost mode and back into a cooling mode.

This product comes equipped with an Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC). To activate manual defrost, press and hold the Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. A "d" in the freezer temperature window and "F" in the refrigerator temperature window will display when the heater is activated. To deactivate manual defrost, press and hold Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. "d" and "F" will be displayed until the defrost cycle is complete. (approx. 8 minutes)

The fridge says OF where the temperature is. I held it for 3 seconds be it keeps returning to the OF setting. Everything inside is defrosting.

Hi,

This problem is because of the temperature control board being defective. Please test the temperature control using multimeter.
The temperature board is defective or the temperature sensor may be frosted out.so it cant supply the signal.Temperature control board controls the defrost system to switch on or off.

Note:Switch off the system for 8 hours or more so the defrost on the thermostat or the sensor will work and it will start work again. Please wait until the full frozen ice melts.

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Siemens fridge freezer kg30u694gb has droped temperature from -23 to -4 is that normal also alarm is on

No. The freezer's ideal temperature is -18 and if this has dropped it can be due to many issues.
It can be the gas pressure, the pumping of the compressor if there is no coling even after switching off for several hours.
If cooling returns after several hours it can be auto defrost timer, thermostat or poor defrost heating

The temperature gradually heads towards the + side from an intial -18. It is not overpacked with food and has to be switched off for 24 hours and restarted before the temperature drops again Why?

poss cause machine is in auto defrost mode.check food still at minus 18c or lower.also when was the last time you defrosted/cleaned filters and drain pipes manually?

My admiral fridge/freezer runs a lot but does not get down to temperature

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Kenmore Upright Freezer Model 253-9280810

is it possible the door has not been closed at some point?
If so they can build up with ice in the evaporator which the defrost system cannot handle....Try a manual defrost.
Depending on where the unit is installed high ambient temperature can drop the internal temp enough to set the alarm off though they will still freeze sufficiently
