Question about Flotec Electrical Supplies

2 Answers

Hey, I just had a Flotec Series FP4300 installed for my well and the manual says that it should go to 50psi and turn off, but the pressure gauge stays at 30psi and does not go any higher so it just keeps running. All the faucets are closed and I don't see any pipes leaking. Is there a way to adjust the pressure switch? Dave,

Ok, upor tank has a bladder inside. the bladder has a valve stem simalar to a tire vavle stem on you car. The bladder is supposed to have 12 PSI to 15 psi pressure in it. Check the pressure with tire guage. I f the pessure is right the pump will not come om until the pressure is lower than the bladder pressure. Adjust pressure switch to maufacturer recomended setting. I have had tanks tha the bladder inside is stuck together, in this case the tank top needs to beremoved and then one would have to pull the blader open by hand.

Yes, the previos post can also cause low pressure. The jet valve could be leaking. Also adjust bladder pressure to 28 psi, I gave you a ball park stting that is for a smaller lower preddure pump. Hope this helps. Good luck I will check back to see if this fixes you problem.

Sorry for the typos, just found my glasses, it's hell getting old, but it beats the alternative. !!!!

The pressure switch adjistment is inside the little black box where the electrical cord goes to the pump, remove cover nut and adjust the small nut with the spring below it.

  • Daryl Gleaton Mar 29, 2014

Clockwise to increase pressure, but I amm going to check the manual for your pump to make sure I am giving you the proper advice. Different pumps will sometimes have alternate pressure adjustments.

Ok, Just one adjustment in the electrical box. One full turn equals- 21/2 psi, so you would need 8 full turns to raise to 50psi.

Maybe your check valve is letting water go back down the well.

Troubleshooting steps pg 13 in manual list several things.
Check air valve for leaks.
Flowtec has a customer service number:
1-800-365-6832

The manual says: "Your new pump has a 30/50 PSI
switch, so adjust the tank pre-charge pressure to 28 PSI.:
But the manual does not say or show how to adjust pre-charge pressure.
The 30/50PSI means the pump turns on when pressure falls to 30, and then runs until pressure rises to to 50. So the switch is preset and not adjustable.

I have also had bladders that were stuck and folded over, this also can cause a low pressure reading on the guage. If this is the case then you will have to take the top off the tank and unfold/unstick the bladder and recharge to 28 psi, or the pressure that your manual suggests.

How can I tell if my oil pump is bad on my 2004 GMC Yukon

You hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge at the oil pressure sending unit oil port and test the pressure, it should be about 25 PSI hot idle and about 50PSI at 2-3,000 RPM.

I am going to take a stab at this it sounds like the bladder has gone bad it the expantion tank. Try letting some air out of the bladder tank and see if you get any water if you do then the bladder has gone bad the tank will need replaced. After the replacement turn the limit switch back to normal settings. You can also tap on the tank to see if it is full of water.

The water and therefore the pressure has to be going somewhere. If you are sure that there are no leaks in the house or outside, then the water is going back into the well. There is a check valve either in the suction line of the pump between the top of the well and the pump or down in the well.
If this check valve fails, it allows water to go the wrong way and back to the well. The result is that you lose pressure.
Secondly, you have to be sure that there are no air leaks between the top of the well and the inlet to the check valve. Leaks in that piping will make repriming difficult.
Write back with more and I'll try to help more.

It could be you have an obstruction in water flow. Are you sure your check valve is correctly installed ( not reversed ). If there is no check valve you might want to install one. A quick way to find out is to use an amp meter and monitor the amps. If it goes beyond the F.L.A. on what the pump is designed for and does not come back to norm after a few seconds, than this is what is probably happening. Be safe and always call an electrician.

Pump will not shut off gives great pressure when running how do i fix this?

This pump runs off of a pressure switch either 30/50PSI or 40/60PSI. It would appear the switch has failed and will need to be replaced. Any Square-D pressure switch will do, head to a home improvement stire and they should have the right item for you. It will cost you @ $10-$15.
Please let me know if this had assisted you,
