No its not a laptop,,,, IT is a HP photosmart all in one c8180 printer scanner and copier. This printer has a dvd burner on it to copy pics to a cd if u want. Thats what i meant about the cd drive. Anyway the touch pad on this printer would not work, it started last night in the middle of the night shuting on and off which woke me up with the clicking on and off . THe touch pad was a sold blue with the HP in it and then it would click and then the dvd writers light would light up and it would click and shut off, it has done this since last nite. I unpluged it from the surge protector and pluged it on the wall. Since i have written you for the past 30 mins, it continued to try to turn on then shut off, now in the past 5 mins, the main screen has come on and it has stayed on,,, im hoping it reset itself, i havent turned it off to see, why would it act this way, all of a sudden just go hay wire

Hello.

I'm confused by your question.

You mentioned your HP C8180 printer but also wrote about a touch pad and CD drive, which sounds like a laptop.

Are you experiencing problems with a printer or laptop ?

But, I'm going to take a chance and figure that you are writing about a laptop power problem. First, remove and reinsert your laptop's battery to see if that resolves your problem.

If not, the most common reasons are the power adapter/cord and power jack.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

If my advice is not helpful, please clarify and be specific about your problem.

Thanks .. hope it helps.

    Thanks for clarifying.

    Some assistance from HP Support:

    Perform a power reset:

Press the Power button to turn off the product.
NOTE: The product might not turn off after pressing the Power button. Continue to the next step regardless.

Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
    Wait 30 seconds.
Replug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
If these steps resolved the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , see the next step.

Contact HP to perform an NVM reset. The instructions for performing an NVM reset are not included here because if the steps are performed incorrectly, the product might be damaged.

    Hope this helps.

Hello My HP G60 549DX touchpad started having problems, while the laptop is charging the touchpad wont work(sometimes, not always) and the touch click wont work, i have to use the right click...

It isn't likely that your laptop charger is the problem and it is more likely that is is just your touch pad. So you shouldn't buy a new laptop charger unless you absolutely think you have to. If you do, make sure that you buy it from HP instead of a third party for a lower chance of problems. It's more likely that it's just your touch pad that is faulty.

I have this same problem on my pavillion dv6. sent it to warranty repairs twice they have replaced the keyboard, touch pad and mother board, worked about a week after last repair which took two weeks. I am sending it back on feb 10 for more replace parts and see if it works. I searched the web and I have not found any solution and hp won't even acknowledge the problem althoughit it is not limited to the hp product. Reconfigureing and downloading drivers etc. has done nothing but waste time. I am using usb mouse with touch pad disabled for now even that acts strange with the touch pad enabled.

HP Photosmart C8180 - Ink System Failure - Oxc18a0101

i had exactly this error message. Rang HP. They said it was a hardware failure, they couldn't fix over phone, would cost 2x cost of new printer to fix, but they offered me 20% discount on new printer if ordered over the phone.

But with some fiddling, problem now resolved. Here's what I did:

- press Red Eye Removal and Print Photos button together
- goes to Mfg Commands -> Enter Special Keys Combo. Press OK
- uaiux Support page (some code) -> click right arrow key until you get to System Configuration Menu - click oK
- should say hardware failure status - click OK
- says hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear
- I clicked OK on this and system reset itself and problem was solved

Hp touch pad keeps clicking like crazy....

Hi,

Try the following steps...

1. First clean the touch pad with a dry cloth.

2. Disconnect the battery and the AC adapter and any other device that is connected to the NB and hold down the power button for 2 mins. This will drain the static.

3. Go to device manager and click on the + sign beside mice and other pointing devices, select synaptics / alps touch pad driver, right click on it and uninstall it. Now go to recovery manager > advance options > hardware driver installation > select the same driver and reinstall it.

This should fix it....

otherwise, go to hp.com/suppport and download the latest bios available.

you can also run a spyware scan if all the above steps do not work. go to www.filehippo.com and download antispyware program and run a scan.

Hope it helps..

Anup
