Ir remote for the vip722k does not work in dim light

Hi Wayde, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. I am sorry to hear you are having issue with your remote. It seems like it could be interference with your Tv or another equipment in the same room. For this issue to be resolved you will need to convert the remote to UHF or obtain a new remote that is UHF. If you would like me to look into this for you or need a new remote feel free to contact me directly at: [email protected]

Recent IR20.0 remote problem developed after 2 years without any issues. The remote no longer communicates to my 722k dvr reciever while my LG Tv is turned on. I have Hdmi run directly from reciever to my...

Hi Robert, my name is Cheri Torres and I work on the Social Media Team at DISH. It sounds like your remote is experiencing IR(Infrared) interference from your LG TV. You can resolve this issue by converting your TV1 remote to UHF(Ultra High Frequency) instead of IR. In order to do this you will need a UHF remote, the 20.0 remote is only an IR remote. Please email me directly at [email protected] with your account number or phone number on the account so that I can look into getting a UHF remote sent out. Thank you.

Westinghouse tv turns off with rmote but cannot be turned on unless button on tv itself is used

How old are the batteries in the remotes? The on/off signal from the remote is the same. There is some lattitude in the IR reciever module for what it accepts. Low battereis may be shifting the signal's frequency or light intensity enough for it to not be recognized.

If sunlight is failing on the sensor or the remote's IR emitter, that can cause interference. Other IR devices can also interfere with the IR signal such as a "Remote Extender" being used for something else.

It may sound odd, but if your remote was working one day and not the next- was the room rearranged? If so, look around for possible sources of interference blocking the beam from the remote, or shining or reflecting light onto the IR reciever module in the set.

My dish remote does not work all the time on Sat..like Guide ..etc... after i turn tv and dishbox off it works sometimes?please help

fritzglas,

It sounds like a interference issue. Sometimes a TV (Usually LCD) or other equipment can generate enough heat to interfere with the IR sensor.

If function returns when you go right up next to the receiver then there is most likely something causing that interference. If that's the case remove possibly sources or turn equipment off and power on 1 by 1 until you isolate the problem.

Another solution if you have a spare remote, or order one, is change it from IR to UHF and bypass the possible. This can be done with remote model's that say IR/UHF Pro on the back at the top.

If you can provide more information about your setup, or if those steps didn't work let me know here or at [email protected] and I would be happy to check it out further with you.

My dish remote for my new vizio tv only works part-time. the volume and power work, but the guide button only works less than half the time and only after holding it down for 5 seconds. i have exchanged...

judileighahl,

If you have replaced batteries and had a new remote sent out to you, either the Vizio TV is emitting an IR signal that is interfering with the remote IR signal to the receiver. To test if the TV is emitting interference, is it possible for you to turn the receiver in a direction away from the TV and see if the remote will work? If it does work after moving the receiver, that indicates interference from the TV. If it doesn't change the situation, you might check for other interference from other components (florescent lights, etc.). I hope this helps.

Infared won't work unless room is brightly lit

Just to provide clarification regarding the IR remote control- unfortunately its the opposite. A brightly lit room can negatively affect the infrared signal the remote uses to transmit the signal from the remote to the receiver- additionally interference may also be caused by fluorescent lighting. Another recommendation regarding IR signal interference is to; power everything off but leave the receiver & your TV on. Then proceed by powering one component on at a time, then testing the remote after each component has successfully been turned on. This process will also help you determine if a component may be causing the interference. Hope this helps! -Kirstie DISH Network

Dish remote quits working at 7pm.

Is this issue with an IR (infrared) remote which is generally for "tv 1," or is it a UHF remote which is used commonly used for, "TV 2?" It sounds as though there may possibly be something interfering with the remote signal & strangely around the same time everyday! IR remote signal interference can be caused by other electronics that may be running & within close proximity of your DISH Network receiver. A way to determine if this is in fact the issue would be to power everything off but leave the receiver & your TV powered on. You would then proceed by powering one component on at a time, & then test a remote function after each component has successfully been turned on. Hopefully this process will help you when trying to determine if it is in fact a component that is causing interference and as a result the remote appears to stop working around 7pm. I Hope this helps you! If this doesn't resolve the issue, please feel free to contact me directly at any time. My e-mail is, [email protected].

My verizon fios remote control stop to control the 65" cinema series toshiba tv.the remote seems to be ok.The oryginal tv remote doesnt control it also.I think that there is something wron with the tv...

Yes, most likely the sensor is at fault - more precisely it's connections to the motherboard are iffy. You must take the back cover off the tv and reseat them. While you are there check their soldering points - with age they tend to melt and get loose.

My hampton bay fan turns on and off with out anyone touching the remote. Same thing with the lights for it. It seems totally random? We have tried replacing the batteries in the remote. What should we try...

I doubt it is caused by IR(Infrared) Interference, since IR remotes have specific codes for each brand of device. Still try point another remote to it just to make sure such as the TV remote. Alhough highly unlikely it is possible to get interference from another remote control.
