Question about Sony KDF-42WE655 Television

1 Answer

My light lamp went out. Is it reasonable to just replace it by dissassembling the housing. This monster is too big to haul in and out of the apartment?

How do i replace burned out lamp

It's very simple, on the back of the TV you will find a square vented plastic cover held in by 4 screws. Remove the screws, you'll now see the lamp housing being held in by 1 or 2 screws. Remove the screw (or screws) you'll now see the lamp housing, it has a metal handle that pulls the lamp (and housing) straight out of it's slot. I purchased mine at Lamp Monsters on Amazon (Samsung Lamp with Housing BP96-01600A) for about $30.00. You will see them priced from 30 bucks up to and above $300 bucks! Good luck I hope this helps! Samsung HLR5667wx/xaa. Power surge took out tv. Replaced bulb and the bulb works, but tv wont come on and lamp light is flashing.

Hello, it sounds like the color wheel may have failed. Was there any noises, like a high pitch sound before it went out? If the color wheel isn't turning at proper speed, the set won't start up by shutting down the lamp protection circuit.

nothing else is required except inserting it right which is not hard==lamp does not seem to be your problem, Other things will cause this issue as well, it is not always the lamp that is bad.

One thing you might want to do is remove here the new lamp unit to make sure it went in clean and straight, With it removed look in the direction the lamp faces for the color wheel, look to see it is intact and not shattered, I attach a photo.

I mention as this is also a common issue in this set, usually proceeded by a high pitched fan like sound or even when failing a grinding noise.

Hi Brent, Mitsubishi's have a problem with the power supply and the Light Engine which incorporates the Digital Module of which it has to be purchased as a complete assembly. I sincerely believe you should not put that kind of money into a dlp set. The cost of the light engine is in the area of $1100.00. Your last idea is the best one.

Replace lamp led light

Have you reset the lamp timer?
Was the lamp module sitted properly?
Remove the back panel and vacuum all the dust.
Also use compressed air to blow out the dust from the inside.
Do not blow into the fan on the right as that will get the dust inside the lamp housing.

Sony kdf-60xs955, rear projection tv

There is a Thermal fuse under the lamp housing that opens up and Sony has a New style fuse to replace it with, it opens up one of the p/s lines to set code 6, replace with new thermal fuse and test. You will want a Skilled Professional to replace this fuse as it does require some dissassembly and removal of light engine to remove fuse from under lamp housing to put new one on side of lamp housing.
