    Thanks for the quick response back....i don't know what i did, but the problem is fixed. This is what happened. I have been using the same computer and printer together for ever. When I came in this morning, I started my computer up and when i went to print my reports, nothing happened. I got a message from the print queue to try the trouble shooting. I did that and it didn't work. The message 80 service (01E4) came up on the display on the printer. I tried to hit the buttons in some kind of sequence, nothing worked. I finally found the latch to unlock the side panel. I opened that up and blew out all of the dirt, left it open and walked away doing other things, when i went back 15 minutes later, it was ready to roll. I shut the side latch and printed a page....everything looks to be ok now.

    Very similar circumstances, only mine occurred shortly after clearing a paper jam, ehcih seemed uneventful at the time. I tried the remedies listed here, without replacing a card. Would welcome any additional suggestions.

    When I go to print a document it gives me an error message

    Service(01E4). I've tried shutting down the computer and rebooting and still nothing happens. I have even trid the opening up the side panel and blowing it out. No luck.

    The imformation you've supplied is a little to vague unfortunately, firstly have your or anyone else's computer ever printed from this printer?? how is the printer connected to the network (parallel to a jetdirect box?, jetdirect card in the back of the printer??)

It fixed my error.
I just removed the network card (we use parallel) & it got rid of the 80 service 0114 error

If you keep getting 80 service, first recycle the power to the printer (try a few times if the error doesn't go). If that doesn't work replace the MIO card (the bit the network cable goes in)

The following will reset the maintenance count after you install the maintenance kit, you can not reset the printer total page count. Press and hold down the [Select] and [Return] keys while powering on the printer, hold these buttons until the display reads "Performing Self Test." If the display readds "80 Schedules Maintenance", press the [Go] to continue past this message and access the Configuration Menu. Press the menu button until the display reads "Reset Maint Cnt" on the second line of the display and press the [Select] button. The top line of the display should now read "Reset Maint Cnt" and the second line will read "Reset" and press the [Select] button. This will reset the counter. To exit out of the "Configuration Mode" cycle the power.

I have a solution

1: turn off printer
2: Whilst pressing down stop/reset button (denoted by triangle inside a cycle) press the power button and hold down stop/reset button until power light comes on, continue to hold down power button and release stop/reset button
3: Continue to hold down power button and press stop/reset button 6 more times, alarm light will toggle on and off as you do this
4: Release all buttons , printer has now entered service mode of operation
5: download service tool v1074
6: towards the top of the page find the "clear ink counter" section and click on the "main" button now scroll down page to find "ink absorber counter" on the left and to the right of that "counter value" ensure ink absorber counter box reads "main" and counter value reads "0" now click the set button to the right of the counter value box.
7: the printer will now make some noise and will print out a page of paper, you will also get a couple of prompts on your computer screen telling you a process has been completed just click on the prompts.
8: once that is complete turn the printer off wait a few seconds and turn it back on and your back in business, at least I was, I hope it works for you also - canon printer service

Comm Error 283 and 232 what does this mean and how do i fix it.

These error codes indicate that the Line (Telephone line) reception quality is very poor that the machine couldn't print/receive the full page fax. If i am right, this happens only with a particular number or if you are sending, your line's the problem. Try it after a while and if possible when you think the line's not so busy and improved. You can also try disabling the ECM (Error Correction Mode) by following the steps below:
  • Press the < or > button until the front display reads "Fax Setup".
  • Press the ENTER/MENU button.
  • Press the < or > button until the front display reads "All Faxes".
  • Press the ENTER/MENU button.
  • Press the < or > button until the front display reads "Error Correction".
  • Press the ENTER/MENU button.
  • Press the < or > button until the font display reads "Off" and then press the ENTER/MENU button to save the setting. (Off disables ECM and On enables ECM).

C7280 series - Ink failure unable to copy receive faxes or print, refer to printer documentation. Error 0xc18a0401 can anyone help please!

The ink system failure message has a chance to be fixed or it may be a permanent issue. It
can be pointing toward a firmware failure in the printer and if that is the case the
following steps should fix it.
Press and hold the “*” key. Press the “#” key and release both keys.
Display should say “Enter Special Key Combo”
Press and release in sequence the "1”, “2” and “3” buttons.
Display should say “Support” and display the FW rev (something like R0631R)
Mine reads R0631M
. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration
Press and release the “OK” button.
Display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to
“Hardware failure status”,
Press and release the “OK” button.
Display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”.
Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared.
Press Cancel to continue”.
Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the
“Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears.
Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the
printer and wall outlet.
Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall
outlet first and then into the back of the printer.
Turn the unit on. The printer may display message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER”
followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”. Press OK. The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK
INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the
initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.

Hi there

· Machine off
· Switch on the machine while holding down the “menu”button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in “maintenance” mode.
· Press 80
· Press the “mono start” button several times until you see “purge: xxxx”
· Press “2783” in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: “purge:0000”
· Press the "stop" button.
· Press “99” to exit the maintenance mode.

Service error (01E4)

You have a bad MIO card. If you remove the card the message should go away.
Card is in the back, held in by 2 screws. If you don't have a cable plugged into it, just remove it. Printer will work fine without it.

My hp desktop will not operate. It reports a message that I have a paper Jam. I have checked the printer as advised and there is no paper inside. I have also conducted all recommended shut down and...

You need to clean NVRAM on Lexmark X5470 printer. Please follow the steps given below to clear NVRAM on Lexmark X5470 printer:

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Hold down "#5" button and turn the printer back on.
3. Keep holding "#5" button for about 5-10 seconds.
4. Press "Menu" button once.
5. Press the right arrow until display shows "Tools."
6. Press "Check" button once.
7. Press the "Right" arrow button again until display shows "Maintenance."
8. Press "Check" button again.
9. Press the "Right" arrow button again until display shows "Manufacturing."
10. Press "Check" button again.
11. Press "Right" arrow until display shows "Clean NVRAM."
12. Press "Check" button to clear nvram.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Make sure the printer is in “Copy Mode.”
2. Press the “Menu” button once.
3. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Copies”.
4. Press the left arrow button once. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Tools”.
5. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Tools: Maintenance”.
6. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Maintenance: Ink Levels”.
7. Press the right arrow button until the screen reads “Maintenance: Print Test Page”.
8. Press the check button once. This will start the Self-Test. Once the page has printed, the printer will stop. The test is not continuous.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, please try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only a color cartridge installed (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed). If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues - we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

The service error refers to an hardware issue with the printer.. U can try the following step,if this didnt resolve the issue only option is servicing.

1. Unplug printer.
2. Press and hold SYMBOLS & ENTER/MENU.
3. Continue to hold down the buttons while you plug back in the printer, through the entire
power-on sequence.
release the buttons.

Hp laserjet 2660n prints every page on red background even from auto testing; I have just bought it.

This is a common problem with this printer. Try this and it must be done 3 times in a row. Also, sometimes if there cartridges are not all from the same maker there may be issues. The transfer belt can be changed but it requires removing a few covers.

Calibrate the printer at the control panel of the printer
  1. Press the c00314542.gif (LEFT ARROW) or c00314543.gif (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads System setup and then press c00314544.gif (SELECT).
  2. Press the c00314542.gif (LEFT ARROW) or c00314543.gif (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Print quality and then press c00314544.gif (SELECT).
  3. Press the c00314542.gif (LEFT ARROW) or c00314543.gif (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Calibrate color and then press c00314544.gif (SELECT).
  4. Press the c00314542.gif (LEFT ARROW) or c00314543.gif (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Calibrate now and then press c00314544.gif (SELECT).
  5. Press the c00314544.gif (SELECT) button to confirm Calibrate now.
