Question about Toshiba Satellite A45-S150 Notebook

1 Answer

Side usb ports not working now. they were this morning. back ports are operable. I tried my flash drive and wireless Logitech mouse M305 (mouse had been long installed there). There was no tumble or toss that I'm aware of, but the port does seem a bit non-perpendicular when the memory stick is in, maybe 89.5 degrees. I was carrying the laptop in my tote bag during the day; it had a bus ride and some table/floor time. Control-panel hardware diagnostics say all USB devices are working properly (even though my memory stick and the mouse plug were plugged in but not being recognized in MyComputer and by the mouse device itself. Conjecture: something bumped the wireless mouse usb thing while going about today and knocked the 2 usb ports out of whack? How to test and/or get it back in operation? Hindsight: probably bad idea to leave the mouse-usb thing in place during travel. What can I do?

Ok well maybe the drivers just got mixed up,try this below, remember you will have to reinstall ALL USB devices again, so have all the drivers ready, I put all my drivers in a driver directory, so whenever i must reinstall, i have the drivers for all my devices at hand, under one directory.

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK. Click the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers. Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.
However often when a USB dongle device is jostled in and out, it can. and does, "Spike' the USB port, and sometimes it will "Blow" the USB inline protection fuses, on the motherboard. This is evidenced by NO Voltage at all on the port. If this is so, then you need to get this repaired. As a workarround, one can hookup a USB Hub, and connect all else up through that.

These things don't last forever. :(
I would suggest resetting the mouse by taking out the batteries, with the batteries out click the left and right mouse button for 10-15 seconds. Put the batteries back in. Also try a different USB port and run the Connection Utility.

personally i think optical mice, or ones with the red light underneath, are a waste of space. i bought a laser mouse and i have never had an issue with it being jerky or un responsive, in fact i experience the opposite. it's too sensitive, awesome for gaming and it works on ANY surface including glass!

Logitech wireless mouse (m305) isn't working

Does this mouse need to sync with the reciever plugged into the computer?
Somewhere on the mouse and posssibly on the reciever plugged into the USB
port on the computer it should have a connect button. Usually to connect/sync
a mouse or keyboard press the button on the reciever first then press the connect
button on the mouse. Or if th mouse has a button just press the mouse button,
often the mouses lazer will blink until the mouse connects with the reciever then
just stay lit at this point it sould work. Another Question, how are the batteries in
the mouse?

Replace the battery in the mouse and move the receiver to a different USB port, if these two solutions doesn't work then the mouse is defective.

Ths problem occurs because of usb drvier conflict issue with your usb wireless dongle driver. For that go to device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it will automatic install all driver. Then go to control panel->add remove program and features then uninstall your wireleless keyboard and mouse driver then reinstall. Then restart and check. Also try different usb ports of computer for connecting the usb wireless dongle of keyboard. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Bought a logitech wireless mouse for my new laptop from ebay. It came with no instructions. I have no idea how to use. It has no batteries but a flash drive

By a flash drive I'm guessing you mean a USB stick. What you need to is find a USB port on your computer/laptop and plug it in. There might be a synchronize button on the mouse and USB stick if so you need to press them both and then your mouse should be working. I hope this helps. :)

Why will wireless mouse M305 work on my old computer but not on newer computer? The batteries are fine but it won't work even though we tried in several usb locations but still nothing.

Maybe it needs to be installed on your new computer?

M305 Logitech Wireless mouse with nano stopped working on Laptop

This is a difficult one to answer so lets go through it.
You have a M305 thatrefuses to work and your OS says is returning an error.
You've quite rightly checked the Logitech site and found out that it appears to be a common fault as many people are reporting the same issue.
Logitech have not resolved the issue.

All the above are valid reason for retun to the vendor for replacement/refund.

However you WANT to replace a M305 (a model with know issues) with ANOTHER M305 which will have the same issues as Logitech have not resolved the problem.

I will have to think long and hard before giving a definative reply.

Logitech has excellent mice. Thats a nice one to. Go to logitech.com support choose the m305 model. You'll get that right away as its one of there newer models. After support download the setpoint software for windows 7. If that all works fine which it should look around the web for whats called uber software for logitech mice. Has added features and better funtionality. Its the talk of the mice world.
