Black ink cartridge is new. Worked for a couple of prints. Suddenly stopped printing. Have reinstalled drivers. Downloaded drivers from Lexmark. Taken cartridge out and put back. Colour ok. Still not working ????

    Try to check the black ink level on the printer. Press Settings button -> Maintenance -> Ink Level. Does it recognize the black ink level? You can also try to clean the cartridge on the printer. Press Settings -> Maintenance -> Clean Cartridge. This will help clear the nozzles on the cartridges from clogs and dirts and improve print quality. Try printing again. If problem continues, insert a known working black cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

Got that problem also, Black would not print but dark grey would be printed ???
What i did and it worked was reset to factory settings, unpluging the printer for ± 25 seconds
holding 3 and # for and other 25 seconds went and after pitting power back on
then re-enterring your setting, all went fine

Bland and color cartridges have been refilled but


Ink level counter (program) didn't read actually ink at ink tank. Brand new cartridge ink level counter 100% (full), and ink 100% (about 10 ml). After may printing, ink will dry out, and ink level counter reach zero (ink out). Printer will not allow print anymore, even have refilled, because ink level read "ink out". For canon type, you just to release ink level counter, and counter just stop, but printer will allow to print. Press stop/reset button for about 30 second.

Black ink doesn't print


I've had it with printers!
I'm on my second one and it's costing me a fortune!
It's cheaper to go to the library and make copies or take a disk to a photo printing booth.
My first printer was a Lexmark x73 it doesn't print anymore and I'm the un-proud owner of two almost new ink cartridges but I kept it because it sill scans and quite well I might add!
My second printer is a HP and very very inexpensive! I ran out of black ink after printing about 10 pages in a lot of black and haven't even thought about trying new ink cartrides yet!
I now go to the library!
The problem with some of these printers is that if you don't use them often enough the jets will clog and it will never print again unless you rebuild it while. Others just use a lot of ink and cost a lot!

You could try paying for a FixYas' Guaranteed Solution as it's guaranteed and someone might have a way to get it going for you again!

Has your cartridge been sitting a while in the box, maybe in a warm spot? Some times even new cartridges dry out a little. Was your old cartridge low or completely gone? Just as a test, if you put it back in your printer does the old cartridge work? Any printer error messages? Can you print a test page or an alignment page for your black cartridge? These might be too many questions but here are some HP support links with some How To information for getting more answers. Printer will not print black ink


Hi please try these steps:::

Right-click the printer icon, and then select 'Properties'.
2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, and then click 'Deep Cleaning'.

3. Select 'All Colors', 'Black' or 'Color' for the print head to be cleaned.

4. Read the message displayed, and then click 'OK'. The power lamp blinks and print head deep cleaning starts. (Do not perform any other operations until print head deep cleaning is complete. Print head deep cleaning takes about 1 minute.)

IF ABOVE STEPS DOESN'T WORK TRY THESE STEPS BELOW

Check ink tank vent hole The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads.

  1. Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank

  2. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (1), it is properly removed.

  3. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (2), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (1).

  4. Make sure each ink tank is snapped into the printer.

    IF THESE STEPS DIDNOT WORK THEN YOUR PRINTER NEEDS REPAIR(You might need to change the printer head.)

Black ink not printing


Fix ink cartridge
I had same problem. I must have ran the clean cycle more than 30-50 times over a period of days. That never made any difference. I was about to toss the whole thing but figured I would try one more thing. If it didn't work I would be in no worse shape. Here is what I did.
Took an almost empty black cartridge and inject a lot of 100% Acetone to dilute ink. Left some black in it since I didn't want to think it was empty. Inserted this cartridge and ran the cleaning a few time. IT WORKED. I used my word processor program and filled a page with large bold font characters and printed a page or two. Each page cleared more nozzles. After doing this cleaning/printing a number of time, I put in the full good cartridge. Ran the cleaning a few time to eject any of the Acetone diluted ink. Ran the printed page a few time to remove more of the diluted ink.
Everything seems to work now.

Black cartridge not printing


This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY


I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.

dear oceantracks maybe one of the black cartridge chip think that ink is running low or not ink is left in the cartrridge.
