SOURCE: Detergent Fill Dispenser
The dispenser is usually controlled by an actuator of some type. This can consist of a small electric wax motor, switch or mechanical assembly. Some dispensers come equipped with an actuator as one complete assembly, while others have separate components that can be purchased separately. I would need your complete model number (located somewhere along to door opening) to be sure what type you have. I can locate a part number for you and give you some guidance on how to make the repairs yourself, if you wish to pursue this on your own and avoid the cost of a repairman. Post back with comments and let me know. I hope this helps you.

The door often sticks because of hard soapy deposits jamming the hinges from moving freely. Just use some warm water and a toothbrush and/or toothpick to dislodge the deposits. Then remember to do this once or twice a year (depending on use of course).

An automatic dishwasher
detergent dispenser door can become stuck for a few different reasons.
Some problems are easy to fix, while some require more work. Repairs
are basically the same no matter what brand of automatic dishwasher you
have, although specific parts might be required. Fortunately, even if
the detergent dispenser needs to be replaced, the problem is not an
emergency. The dishwasher will clean dishes fine even with a stuck

1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
