Record a Personal Greeting
1. Access the answering system from any handset. Wait until the system finishes its announcements, or press 5 (Stop) to skip them.

2. Press 8 (RecNewGreeting).

3. Wait for the system to say "Record greeting," then begin speaking.

4. When you're finished, press 8 to stop recording. The system plays back your new greeting.

5. To keep this greeting, press End. To re-record it, go back to step 2.

Or you can get the manual on the link below page 17.

Good Luck

this makes no sense at all. I can't access the system...there are no announcements...I can't make any. If I could press 8 (RECNEWGREETING) I could record my record my greeting....HOWEVER I can't access it to press 8 is an impossible task. Bet you don't post this one. This is my third Uniden BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE. Terrible directions.

What Guru Uniden neglected to add at the beginning of his directions was that in order to access the answering system from your handset, you must push the MUTE button on the bottom right hand corner of your handset. Then, you can follow his instructions. Uniden Owner

You may download a copy of the manual at http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/DECT1480-2om.pdf.

To decrease the ringer volume, press DOWN while in standby mode.

Call waiting is a service offered by your telephone company, not a feature of any particular phone. To learn how to use it, contact your telephone company for their instructions.

I do not have a manual for directions on recording a personal message

For most of the Uniden DECT phones, you set up the outgoing message from the handset. Make sure the answering system is on. For the DECT1480, press Messages/Mute on the handset when the handset is in standby to enter the answering system menu. Then press 5 (or wait until the current message ends). Then press 8 (record new message). Wait for the prompt and then speak your message. When finished, press 8 again. Then listen to the play-back of your message. Press End to save and exit the menu. Alternatively you can scroll through the list of commands and press Menu/Select to enter the sub menu or command.

There are several models of Uniden DECT 6.0 phones. If you have a different phone, you should check your manual. The entire list of Uniden phone manuals is available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Scroll down to your product and click on the version in your language.

I hope this helps.

(most of the Uniden phones that I know have the same set of directions for the answering system outgoing message.)

How do i set the answering system on a uniden 1580-3 phone, mine is just background noise on the answering machine when someone calls in to leave a message

Here is the manual for your phone. You can download the manual and the instructions for setting up your answering machine are on page 43:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/DECT1580-3om.pdf

Setting Up the Answering System
You can set up your answering system's features from the handset. Only one handset at a time can access the answering system menus.

Note: If you have multiple bases, select the base with answering system you want to access (see page 15).

Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: "Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone." You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, "Record greeting." Begin recording after the announcement.

When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded greeting plays back for you.

Selecting a Greeting

Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can
also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.
