Sub-Zero not cooling properly

I have a Sub-Zero with bottom freezer. Every year we have to call a repairman to come to the house because the fridge portion is not cooling. The freezer portion is making ice and working just fine. The repairman does fix it but we don't know what he is doing to fix it. At $600.00 a visit we really would like to get some suggestions on what to try ourselves, suggestions????

If the light keeps coming back on and temps are rising in the refer section, then you most likely have an evaporator leak. Check to see if you see either a moist spot or ice on the back wall on the left side of the back wall of the refer. If you do, it's definetly a leak. Call a authorized Servicer. If the guy you have had in the past keeps coming back every year, the he is either recharging the unit without changing the evaporator or you have a leak somewhere else. Call a authorized Servicer.

It's a definitely evaporator leak...Cheapest thing - your tech should recharge freon with some add on as a Stop Leaker or something. Any appliance parts supplier has it. Usually it's good enough and working long time, more than one year :)

Most likely you need an evaporator and drier. Sub Zero warranties the parts for 12 years, labor to replace should be 300.00 plus depending on your area.

You have a leak and he is coming and putting a charge of freon in your system. This will usually last a year or more. Your problem is a leak . Very hard to find sometimes,

Freezer does not work

Most model numbers are located in places like the photo shows below. It may be the thermostat itself causing the problem with freezer, yet I don't believe I have seen a refrigerator running without using the freezer to cool the refrigerator section. I guess anythings possible. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Sub-zero not keeping cold. It will cycle on and cool properly, then after a while the temp goes up to near 50 and it takes too long to cycle on to cool down again.

Call a subzero repairman. My subzero had a leak in the refrigerant coolant tubing. Trust me, only a trained and equipped repairman has a prayer of fixing this.

The only other thing that seems could be wrong is that your freon lines are icing up and is cause you to not cool properly. Pull out your fridge and check the compressor on the bottom

That depends on if your model has a five or ten year warranty on the compressor. Your problem may not be warranty related. Check and see if the condenser is clean, check for a frozen cooling coil.

Sub-zero 550 reefridgerator top freezer bottom - refridgerator door not staying closed

Just a guess, but I would check the gasket on the door. They can go bad or get distorted and bunch up and cause the door to bind and not close properly. Also check that the fridge is leveled properly. Will the door close if pushed? Will it stay closed?
