TV WAS WORKING OKAY WHEN SUDDENLY A LOUD ALARM-TYPE BUZZING CAME FROM IT. IT DID NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE OR ON/OFF SWITCH, SO I UNPLUGGED IT. WHEN I PLUGGED THE TV BACK IN 12 HOURS LATER, THE BLUE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE DVD PLAYER, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING BUT A BLACK SCREEN. NO PICTURE. NO SOUND.

READING THE PRODUCT REVIEWS SURE DOESN'T GIVE ME A WARM FUZZY FEELING.

I called the manufacturer and they said I could send it back to be repaired or replaced. It costs $45 if its after 120 days on the receipt (they extended it another 30 days) or no cost if within the 90 (120) day period. He said there is a 1 yr warrenty on the fixed or replaced on as well. Here's the phone number 1-888-252-6252! I hope this helps someone!

(I got this number after calling target's manufacturer hotline that they give u in the store when they tell you they wont take it back)

SOURCE: TV will not come on

Hope it not serious. Do a hard reset and try again. You can do the reset by unplugging the power cord for a couple of hours; then power it up again.
If the reset does not solve the problem then it is serious! The blinking light means the set has gone into protection mode. This is when the system has detected a short or something that is drawing excessive current. The protection system shuts down the main power supply in order to prevent further damage to the set.
In the majority of cases the blinking light means the main power supply has gone bad, but it could also mean other things as well.
Repair is usually on the expensive side, unfortunately. You will need to find someone who can go inside the set, take some measurements in the power supply and track down the ailing part of the set.
Hope that helps........

I think you just have to switch on the TV again. the switch number 5 on the right side of the TV should be pressed once.

I had to unplug my tv today (actually the TV is plugged into a surge protector, so I unplugged the surge protector.) when I plugged the surge protector back in the TV wouldn't go on (acts as if its...

There should be a surge release button on the surge protector to bring the protector back to normal (should be red in color) Some surge protection devices have this option so just check if your s has it. If that is not the case than I think that you might have blown a fuse in your TV.Might just have to open it up and change the fuse within with the same ratings, but please be careful because do have high voltages so get an experienced technician to do this for you.
Good Luck.

Because of a power surge, i think i fried my tv, are there any safety procautions inside that might protect the tv, such as fuses, or would it just ruin the tv?

there are fuses and MOV's to protect for surges.
mov is metal oxide varistor, a resistor that shorts out when the voltage rating is exceeded causing the fuse to bluw.
always right after the fuse on the circuit board on the powersupply board

We had bad weather lights went out ..had tv plugged into a power surge plug ...now that i have power back tv wont come on

Some will say a surge protector will save electronics. I can tell you they may not help at all. A power surge is extremely fast and can over ride the surge protector. If you think you can repair this TV, I would certainly remove the back cover and inspect. Occasionally the only problem for repair is to replace the main fuse. Remember, this happens rarely. Most cases after a surge the TV will need to be inspected by a TV tech. Almost anything, in a power surge will damage the TV. There is no certain area that will not be damaged, expect it any where. Check the main fuse in the power supply, the TV also has small surge protection devices (MOVs) installed after the fuse, any surges the come along and big enough will cause the main AC fuse to blow. When you surge protector, EVERY connections must go through the surge protector, for example, the AC cord of the TV is connected to the surge protector, the cable connection did not go through the surge protection, the surge then can get to the TV through the cables.

Sony Bravia LCD TV is tripping the fuse in the house

These things draw a huge surge current when turned on. What size fuse are you blowing? These things can surge 10-12 amps on turn-on. What about a fuse with a reset button. They will take alittle more surge before they go. Don't matter about the insignia working before because the cheaper sets tend to stay powered up more when off....thus not surging on from a dead start. Could you try a different plug on a different circuit/fuse? and see if that makes a difference. If you have a 15 amp fuse, then your pretty close with other stuff plugged in. What size is your service? Do you still have an original 60 amp box with screw in fuses? Is it an old house?
