Question about Philips SmartTouch-XL HQ9190 Electric Shaver

I have a Phillips HQ9190 Electric Shaver: The display breaks up and is inconsistent, most of the time it is unreadable, but when I wash the machine under hot water, it sometimes displays correctly. I have taken it apart several times, and immediately after putting it back together it works correctly for a short time and then starts misbehaving again. It would appear to be a problem with the contacts. The on off switch now seems to be rather to sensitive and comes on and off too readily.

Try turning on the shaver with the heads may have a damaged head that is causing the shaver to lock up. If shaver runs with heads removed, you will know this is the problem.

Problem could also be a loose connection inside or even a bad battery

This problem can be caused by a malfunctioning printed circuit board inside the shaver. This usually can be fixed by fully discharging the battery then fully charging it or disconnecting the battery then reconnecting it (if possible, most shavers has their batteries soldered-in).

The display now shows a picture of a battery indicating the amount of charge,instead of the minutes of charge left,eg.(99)

This is quite normal. There is no need to worry about that. Plug in the charger again and the display will change to numeric value.

Also you can charge your shaver anytime as it uses Li-ion batteries so the batteries will not damage easily.

This indicator signals that time has elapsed and it is due for a replacement of the shaver heads. You will find replacement heads for model HQ9190 at See link below.
