Question about M-Audio Fast Track USB (FASTTRACK) Audio Input

Two questions: #1: Fast Track often disconnects. Go System Pref/sound and click on "Sample Rate". Always comes back but a drag. #2: Continuous hi freq (about 1000k) unless gain is kept low. Is always there as long as my computer routes sound out thru FT. Running MAC 10.6.4 and 10.4.11. Same thing either way. Thanks

    Ok, I don't use Bluetooth or Airport & the Fast Track is already 4 ft away. The aprox 1000k sound is always there, recording or not and it does show up on recordings as well. I have enough head room to usually keep it under control but sometimes with a low signal level, you can still hear it.

To alleviate this problem, try moving your M-Audio device a short distance away from your computer. Another solution is to turn off Bluetooth and your wireless network and / or airport card during the recording. If you have a cell phone, move it away from your speakers and M-Audio interface.

Limited bandwidth of the USB 1.1 bus:

- 2 Inputs and 0 Outputs at 24Bit / 96kHz
- 0 Inputs and 2 Outputs at 24Bit / 96kHz
- 4 Inputs and 2 Outputs at 24Bit / 44.1 or 48kHz
- 2 Inputs and 4 Outputs at 24Bit / 44.1 or 48kHz
- 4 Inputs and 4 Outputs at 16Bit / 44.1 or 48kHz
- 2 Inputs and 8 Outputs at 16Bit / 44.1 or 48kHz (Sonica Theater)
- 4 Inputs and 4 Outputs with every other sample rate up to 16Bit/44.1kHz. This information applies to recording/playback through separate physical Inputs and/or Outputs. Of course you can't get more inputs or outputs than physically present on your USB Audio device. Playing multiple audio tracks that are mixed down within a software application and being output through the available physical audio outputs on the M-Audio USB audio device is always possible (e.g. playing a virtually unlimited amount of audio tracks within a software application, played through the outputs 1+2 on the USB audio device). Some M-Audio USB audio devices do not support all listed Sample Rates and/or Bit Depths (e.g. MobilePre/FastTrack up to 48kHz, Black Box always at 44.1 kHz).


For USB devices equipped with an power button or switch, power off your M-Audio device before putting the computer in sleep mode, and wake the computer from sleep mode before powering your device back on.

For USB devices without a power switch, disconnect the USB cable before putting the computer in sleep mode, and wake the computer from sleep mode before reconnecting. You can disconnect the USB cable from either the M-Audio device or the computer. When disconnecting from the computer, make sure you reconnect to the same USB port.

If your M-Audio device is not working after following the procedures above, restart your computer to re-establish a connection with the device.

    setting is adjusted from within your recording application. This
    setting is generally located in the Preferences Menu in an audio
    configuration menu. Please refer to your application's user guide to
    find out how to change the buffer size. Try increasing by small
    increments and then test the audio quality again.



    Repair your Disk Permissions:

    1. Open the Utilities folder located in Macintosh HD>Applications >Utilities

    2. Double click to open Disk Utility

    3. Select your Macintosh HD

    4. On the First Aid tab click Repair Disk Permissions

    This may take a few minutes; it is a general maintenance routine for the OS, and important to ensure the proper functioning of MIDI and audio. When the permissions repair is complete you can quit the Disk Utility.



    Bluetooth and Airport Wireless have been known to cause problems with
    pops, clicks, and distortion during recording and playback. Disable
    both of these from System Preferences and then test the audio quality
    again. These devices can easily be activated when needed.



    MacBook and MacBook Pro users should verify they are connecting their M-Audio USB interface to the recommended USB port. Specific USB ports on these systems are known to cause pops, clicks, and dropouts in the audio.

    recommend downloading and installing the "Combo Update". Installing the

    For example, if you are using OS X version 10.5.5, go to http://www.apple.com/downloads
    and search for "10.5.5 combo update". Save the appropriate file for
    your exact OS version to your desktop. Disconnect your M-Audio USB
    device before installing the combo update. Once the combo update
    is installed repair disk permissions (see above), then uninstall and
    re-install the latest M-Audio driver and repair disk permissions again.

My logitech z-5300 speakers were working perfect to play itunes & sounds from all programs. Got video camera & tried to use it but no sounds played around in control panel now my speakers wont...


Hi

You do not say which operating system you are using. My answer can therefore only be general rather than specific to your operating system.

The Video Camera you tried to install probably has an in-built microphone. Connecting this is may have changed the default settings for your audio devices.

You have a number of options for fixing this problem.

SYSTEM RESTORE
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > selected a highlighted date in the calendar and an Event in the schedule before the date you tried to install the video camera > restore > restart the computer (you should hear the windows logon on tones if you are using a windows operating system) > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.

AUDIO SETTINGS
Start > Control Panel > Audio devices > Audio (Playback Devices) > Set Defaults (set the Speakers to be the Default Playback devices > apply > ok > restatrt computer > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.


AUDIO/SOUND DRIVERS
Reinstalling the Audio/Sound Drivers would also probably resolve the problem by restoring your Default Audio settings, if you have the Driver CD for your Laptop or Desktop Motherboard > install Audio/Sound Driver > restart computer > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.

I cannot direct you to a driver download site, because you have given no information about your computer.

Connecting an M Audio Fast Track USB to a Behringer XENYX 1002


I suppose that you connect the behringer mixer master out (just one of the two channels in case of two) to the guitar input of the Fast Track. Have you tried to hear your mic from the phones output at the front panel of the Fast Track? Try changing the guitar gain and the output level at the top of the Fast track.

I'm waiting for your results or clarification, please post.

Samson G Track USB Mic


To get sound in both channels in Garageband for a podcast using the G-Track Microphone:    select a voice track to record into    make sure the Track Info window is open (blue i button in lower right region of screen)    at the bottom of the Track Info window you will find Input Source:    Change the default setting of Stereo to Mono 1 (USB Audio CODEC)
This assumes you have gone to Garageband preferences and changed the Audio/Midi settings for audio input to USB Audio CODEC which appears when you plug in the G-Track Mike

How Do I Capture Live Audio with M-Audio Fast Track Pro


All you have to do is to connect with 2 cables your cd's or dvd's output to the two 1/4” TS plus in the front side of the Fast Track Pro and a usb cable from the rear panel of the Fast Track Pro to your pc's usb port. I suppose that you have installed the drivers for Fast Track Pro at your pc.
Anyway in case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

o always run at 0 on play back recording -3 with drums use anlog cables then select anlog 48000 24 bit if u can if its digital cable might use 96000 bit rate ok spdif watch it close on digital for digital clips never go in red keep steady balence cheak your sorse tape how loud is that adjust your stuff to sound good at peaks never hit red in digital mode does this help sum

Tascam us 144 sync problems with cubase le


Hey lea,

i have a similar setup (Cubase LE & Tascam 144) and each time i start up Cubase i have to make sure there is no digital input going to the tascam. once cubase is started up but no project loaded i plug in my spdif from my DAT machine and then open my project and all is fine. does that answer part of your question?

i have a different problem though, i'm trying to record my DAT tapes which are recorded at 32khz and cubase doesn't recognize that sample rate properly. it'll record no problem, and play them back fine, but exporting always creates mismatched sample rates in the exported file. sucks big time and i have got no idea on how to fix it either.
