Joanne, when you take the screws out of the handle, and take the handle half off to expose the switch, the black wire from the handle cord goes on the front terminal on the switch that is by itself. The black wire from the power cord will go on the terminal that is facing up as you look down on it. Hope this helps!

How to wiring the power cord to the F/R switch?

Will need more information: make, model, etc. A corded drill motor can be AC or DC. It can be variable speed on not. An AC motor can be reversed by changing the magnetic polarity of the start winding (switching the two start winding wires). This type of wiring in not usually variable speed. A DC motor is reversed by changing the electrical polarity of the primary motor leads. Usually these type of devices have a rectifier circuit to produce DC voltage and use a PWM signal to develop variable speed.

Where do you wire power cord on skil circular saw 5400 to switch

Very easy to tell the short wires go to the cord side. The longer ones go to the motor. The wire will be same color as the cord wires. They will come from the back of the switch as it sets in saw.

I have to replace the power switch on my Delta Shopmaster 10" radial arm saw. I have the switch, which is a Delta 438010170206S Rocker Switch has (4) terminals. I need to know which wire goes where????

How many wires do you have? The switch is probably a 2 pole, On-Off. If you have 2 wires, connect them to two terminals on one side of the switch (use an ohm-meter to find which terminals make-break). If there are 4 wires, connect the black and white power cord wires to different sides of the switch. Then connect the two motor wires to the two remaining terminals. DO NOT CONNECT THE BLACK AND WHITE POWER WIRES TO THE MAKE-BREAK TERMINALS OF THE SWITCH. This creates a short in the power cord and will trip a breaker.

I have a duracraft dual window fan that was disassembled for cleaning. When reassembling, the power wire became seperated at it's union with the leads to the switch. When re-wired, it runs at only one...

Many times, a simple three speed fan motor has one wire for each speed - and a "common" wire, for a total of 4 wires. The common wire is connected to one of the wires of the 2 conductor cord that plugs into the wall outlet. Each of the other three wires from the motor is connected to a separate terminal of a a four position switch (Off, Low, Medium and High speed).

The other wire from the 2 conductor cord goes to the "shunt terminal" (or common terminal) of the switch. The switch directs the power to flow from the shunt terminal to either the off position or the low, medium or high speed terminals - which power the fan motor to run at the associated speed.

What you have done was connect the wire that came off to another wire. This means that the power from the 2 conductor cord is permanently connected to one of the speed terminals - and wires of the motor. You need to unplug the fan and remove the wire that you connected. Locate the shunt terminal of the switch - it should be the one without a wire on it. Reassemble and try again.

Be careful doing this work - I hope this helped!

I have a Coalman Powermate 6.5 Hp 60 gal. compressor model C650C600VIB103. I want to know to connect the elect. cord correctly.

Does the unit have a starter or just a pressure switch , if just a pressure switch it should be marked with line and motor , the wires on the motor should go to the motor terminal and the line terminals are the power supply , if the unit is 110 volts make sure you put the wires on by color , the white wire goes to the motors white wire and the black to the motors black wire , if this is 220 volts it does not matter which wire connects just put the two black wires on the line terminals. One wire per terminals please.

In replacing push button switch INDAK 681064-01N I forgot to record the wiring sequence, please help

If you look at the switch with the pushbutton on the top, the white wire from the cord to the motor attaches to the upper left terminal, the red wire from the cord to the motor attaches to the lower left terminal (just below where the white wire attaches), the black wire from the cord to the motor attaches to the upper right terminal and the short black wire going to one of the two pins that plug into the extension cord attaches to the lower right terminal (just below the where the black wire to the motor cord attaches).

Need help wiring new pressure switch for craftsman air compressor

Assuming that you are wiring for 115v. Lets start with the ground. The cord that attaches to the wall outlet will have three wires, green, black , and white. Insert the cord thru one of the openings of the pressure switch and attach the green wire to the ground screw. Next look very closely at the contacts and notice that they are arrainged in pairs. There is a small brass bar with two contacts that completes the circuit for each line. Start with L1 and attach white wire from cord, then attach white wire from motor to the screw terminal that small brass bar bridges to (should be T1). Next attach black wire from cord to L2 and black wire from motor to remining screw. Remember that the small brass bar with two contacts is the bridge and simply connects white to white and black to black. Enjoy
