SOURCE: Record player sounds scratchy and tinny

Hi,
with all due respect these things are not gonna sound great. You do not get a full range clarity deep warm sound with a 2" speaker driver enclosed in fiber board. Not to mention going into the realms of tone arms and the stylus. These are china bulk built rubbish IMO.
The crackling, yes you can try a cleaner, but no mater how hard you try, the tone arm is way too light which is why it will sound crackly and distorted. Of course the condition of the vinyl record itself will play a major part too.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and get some seperated (amp, turntable, pair of floor standing speakers) then come back and visit :-)

I have an electro brand 9249 record player. How do I remove the needle and where do I get a new needle

Hello
The needle and cartridge can be bought from most of the standard electronic sparepart selleing shops at your town. It will be best to replace the cartridge along with needle. Cartridge will have a number printed on it, should be noted. OK.

Record player sounds scratchy and tinny

Playing records is a contact sport.

Since the needle touches the record -- as opposed to a laser reading a CD -- any bit of dust or mold translates to annoying pops and hisses.

Record cleaners get down into the record grooves to extract dust and particles.

Or you may need a new needle.
