Open up the cd drive and underneath the laser there is a white thing that can fit a flat head screw driver in it turn it a little about 30 degrees left this should resold the problem. mark where it originally was just in case you need to take it in for repair. it does not matter if you open the case audio repairers will still fix it if you want it done.

Technics SC -HD 501 CD jumping and skipping

If this happens on all CDs then most like the drive is bad or lens is dirty You can try cleaning out the heads using a cleaner disc. If you have a way to get to the lens you can try cleaning it manually. But most likely. It's one of the following dirty lens, bad motor, bad speed control.

Yamaha CDX 490 problem. CD skips in music. Hope you can help me. Best regards Preben Staunsbjerg Denmark

First, try other CDs to be sure the problem isn't with the particular CD you are playing. If it's just the one CD, try cleaning the CD with soap and warm water, then drying lightly with a soft cloth. If it has trouble playing ALL CDs, it the lens on the CD player may be dirty. This is especially likely if the device is in an area where it is exposed to cigarette smoke or heavy dust. If you're technical, the lens can be cleaned VERY GENTLY with a cotton swab dampened with a tiny amount of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. If you are not technical, you will need to have a technician clean the lens. There are also various lens cleaning kits available at your local electronics store or music store which have special lens cleaning CDs, many of which are effective.

Cd keeps jumping and then stops playing. Fine on different player

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it jump.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

Cd system does not recognise the cds on playing deck.

The unit is a 3 disc changer usually when these kind of problems occur there are quite a number of possible solutions.
When i faced such a problem it was due to the current being low. Then it was 200 volts instead of 220 so check yours and determine if the current is adequate otherwise you can get a voltage regulator.
On the other hand this happens when the lens is dirty or the CD is not properly placed but the second option is usually an off case.
Generally to solve the problem take out the unit from the mains for about 20 mins.
If you have the technical know how you can open the unit and try to clean around the CD tray. This should be done with utmost care as damageable components are around the tray(this is not compulsory if you cant).
After about 20 mins pug the unit back
Next get a CD lens cleaner and run it in the system to clean the lens of the unit.
put in a single disc and attempt to play. At this point the unit should function fine.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Cds dont load and tracks will skip during song play

It is clear symptoms of bad optical laser or dirty optical lens.
Please put lens cleaning CD in player, play that CD to clean dust on optical lens surface. If that helps, fine or replace optical laser block in player.
I can provide you optical lens part number, please confirm is it Sony CDP-CX153 cd player or any other model.
Thanks.

When Making A CD To Play On My technics SL-PD8 It

If thhis happens quite often , and does not depend on the media, then it is usually a dirty lens problem. The lens is dirty or scratched and sometimes cannot read CD TOC (table of content).

If this happens only on reocrded CDs , try changing the media used. For example if you used +R, try with -R.

If this happens on all media, then try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner CD or blowing some canned air on the lens.

CDs not playing

Clean the lens. Use only a special CD lens cleaner and follow the instructions carefully. If that seems intact, (and you feel comfortable doing it) check the traverse assembly (the metal rod that the laser travels along and the gear that drives it) if CDs aren't recognized or won't play, frequent skipping occurs at random, CDs randomly get stuck in one spot, the player can't find tracks correctly, or cleaning the lens doesn't work. Dust and lint may be interrupting its function.
If that doesn't work then have the laser-head assembly checked by a repair person if the traverse assembly seems intact and free of debris.
