Question about OKI MICROLINE 591 Matrix Printer

Help!! Troubleshooting I'm haning issues with my printer. It is printing in the Norwegian symbols I want to set it up to use English symbols. Can you help me?

    I'll have to look this one up. I haven't touched one of these in 8 years.



    What started the symbol set to get changed or did the printer do it on it's own.



    If it did, you might want to change the printer cable. The data signal lines could be bad.

First thing to try is turning the printer off and back on again. If it still continues, replace the printer cable.

How do I prevent it printing symbols rather than text? Cant seem to get the printer to work


Wifi is a different ball game. However, uninstall the printer on your computer, then go online to epson.com, support, drivers, then identify your printer and download and install the epson supported package for your operating system. Install, restart, then look at control panel for installed printers and pick the one you just did and mark it as default printer.

Color ink problem


Solution one: Check the ink levels To allow for full use of the cartridges, some printers continue to print even after the cartridges are completely out of ink. Follow these steps to check the ink levels in the Toolbox . The Toolbox is part of the standard printer software. Depending on the version of Toolbox on your computer, the appearance of the Toolbox features might vary.
NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Print quality deteriorates as cartridges run out of ink.
  1. Click Start (c01827528.gif ), click All Programs , click the HP folder, and then click the icon for your HP printer (c02053172.gif ). The printer software opens.
  2. In the printer software, double-click Estimated Ink Levels . The Toolbox opens.

  4. If the ink level indicators show that a cartridge is low or empty, replace the cartridge.
  5. Try printing again.

    NOTE: If a dialog box opens with a message that it is now ok to turn off the computer, press the power button on the computer to turn it off. Then press the power button again to turn it on. After a few minutes, the computer is ready to print again.
  4. Reopen the file that you want to print, and then try printing again.

Solution four: Check for blank pages in the print preview If the printer prints all pages correctly, but it adds blank pages to the printout, check for blank pages in the print preview.
  1. In most programs, click File , and then click Print Preview . If the program you are using does not have this option, consult the program manufacturer.
  2. Review the print preview for blank pages.
  • If the print preview reveals blank pages, delete the blank pages in the document, and then try printing again.
  • If the preview contains no blank pages, continue with the next solution.
Solution five: Check the USB cable If the printer connects with a USB cable, a faulty connection might cause the issue. Follow these instructions to check the USB cable.

  1. Browse to the location of your saved document, right-click the file, and then click Open With . A window opens with a list of programs.
  2. Select a program other than the program you are currently using to print the document.
  3. Open the file in the program, and then check the contents.
    NOTE: Most files open in plain text applications, such as Notepad or WordPad, even if the contents include unusual symbols or text that does not make sense.
  4. Try to print the file:
    1. Click File , and then click Print . The Print window opens.
    2. Select your HP printer from the Select Printer drop-down menu, and then click OK .
    If successful, the printer prints exactly what displays in the program window.
    • If the document prints successfully in the alternate program, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. The issue is likely specific to the program you are trying to print from. Consult the program manufacturer for assistance.

Hi, we have a GCC Elite XL 40N Printer at work on a network with about 12 computers attached to it. One day when I wasn't here, (so im not sure how it started) It started printing A LOT of sheets with...


This could be caused by a few different problems with the printer but here are some troubleshooting techniques that may help:

1. Check that the printer is able to print correctly on its own. Print out a configuration page from the printer or install the printer onto a new machine as a local printer and print out a test page. If this prints out as symbols, the problem is a most likely hardware error and the printer will need to be serviced. Try step 2 before servicing. If the printer prints normal characters, go to step 3.

2. Carefully go through the settings on the printer and review the printer's configuration page to make sure everything has the correct settings and nothing was changed accidentally.

3. The most common problem is that the drivers on the print server, or on the server computer, have become corrupted. In Printers and Faxes on the print server, delete all the drivers for the printer, reinstall them, and then add the printer again. Make sure to print a test page at the end of the add printer wizard.

4. It could be a problem with the ethernet cable so try swapping the current ethernet cable with a new one.

5. If it is still printing symbols at this point, it is most likely a hardware issue and the printer will need to be serviced.

Printing but page comes out blank


To allow for full use of the cartridges, some printers continue to print even after the cartridges are completely out of ink. First, check the ink levels. If the ink level indicators show that a cartridge is low or empty, replace the cartridge.
If not, try to restart the printer. Restarting the printer might clear the issues and allow the printer to function correctly again.Press the power button to turn-off the printer then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer, and the USB cable(if connected). Leave unplug for 30 seconds then reconnect the USB cable and the power cord.
If issue persists, try to reboot your computer. Restarting your computer might resolve the issue. If the printer prints all pages correctly, but it adds blank pages to the printout, check for blank pages in the print preview.

Printer only prints half of page


My printer does this when the paper isn't seated properly and/or that paper guide isn't set correctly. If this all seems OK, then try a head clean. You should be able to do this from the printer options in Windows.

Changing the Control Panel Display Language

The default control panel display language is set for English.
Supported languages are: English, French, German, Italian,
Spanish, Finnish, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Turkish,
Polish, and Portuguese. Follow these instructions to change the
display language.

1 Switch OFF the printer.
2 Press and hold Select while switching the printer ON until
SELECT LANGUAGE appears in the display.
3 After the power-on self test, LANG=ENGLISH appears. Press
[Value+/-] until the desired language appears in the display.
4 Press [Select] to save your choice. An asterisk (*)appears next
to the language to indicate it is now the default.
5 Press [Go]. The On Line indicator is lit, and display messages
are now in the language you selected.

Try this:
Click Start, then internet explorer, then tools, then internet options, advanced tab, reset button, a new window appears then reset, close Ok.

Printer not Print data in English Language


Hi, you may want to reset/restore the Epson LX300 to default settings. This can be done by pressing down on the FONT button while powering on the printer. If done right the LX300 will print a test page with the firmware version. It is also possible that the drivers are corrupted. In Start, Printers & Faxes, delete the LX300 printer, restart your PC and then re-install via Add Printer. In some cases, defective parallel cable can also cause problems. Unfortunately the only sure way of checking is by replacing the printer/parallel cable with a known good/operation cable. If the printer would really be requiring service, a Service Manual is available at (http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2&searchstring=DPA-300) Hope this be of some help to you.
