I have an Alpine CDE-100 and when I hooked up my subs and amp I would only get subs with radio and regular speakers for my ipod via usb and the cd player? I had a friend that use to install sound systems and he said everything was hooked up right. So how do i get the subs to work with all setting?

While I don't know the specifics of this head unit, I would guess that it has settings that can be adjusted for each source. You might check to see if there's a menu that allows you to turn the subs on/off for the various program sources.

Make sure you are using the blue/white wire to turn the amp on. The blue wire is antenna remote and turns off when leaving tuner mode. The blue/white wire is amp remote turn on.

Subwoofer for alpine cde-9843

In short, no.

The CDE-9843 cannot drive a sub of the type you mention without an amp, but you can fit a sub with it's own built-in amp.

As standard, the head unit has a basic in-built amp supplying 4 x 16w RMS at 4ohms but there is the facility via the unit's own menu to turn off the in built amp and use the output sockets as a pre-amp feed, but in reality if you want to drive an amp you'd be better off to start with a more highly specified head unit to begin with, even the next model up, the CDE-9845 is better suited as there are pre-outs for front and rear speakers.

Alpine CDA 9827 using aux mode with ipod shuffle via rca inputs

Unfortunately, the rca outputs are to control an amplifier or crossover. They do make an ipod adapter for that radio, which allows you to control the ipod through the radio. Best Buy or any Alpine dealer should carry something for around $25.

I-Pod hook up

I think the red/white RCA plugs on the back of the CDE-7858 are outputs for the sub-woofer -- they won't work for aux inputs like iPod.  According to Alpine dealers, the 7858 will not accept an aux input -- bummer, I had the same desire. R, Jim
