I have one of these presently. As mentioned in previous post, the gas has a tendency to leak from the tank into the carb and then into the engine via the intake valve. I found the intake valve stem so gummed up. I removed it and polished it. Ran much better. Now I am going to convert it to run on propane so no more gummed valves. If anyone has a copy or pdf of the manual, would be appreciated.

I had one of these and it was very sensitive about getting the carb jet plugged up from leaving gasoline in the tank and carb bowl. I had to take it apart and clean it w/ card claener several times. I can tell you the engine is super sensitive ab out the needle jet setting. Too rich or too lean and it won't run at all or will gas you out from the smoke.

SOURCE: My troy-Bilt 5550 watt generator will not start

First drain the fuel bowl. Any old fuel in there will keep it from starting. Fuel stabilizer is not what it's it cracked up to be. I've worked for 6yrs at a rental yard and had no luck with any fuel stabilizer, the fuel still went bad. If after you drain the fuel bowl it still will not start, you will need to clean the carb. Remove the carb and spray carb cleaner through all the accessible passages. If this does not do it, you will need to replace the carb. For long term storage I highly recommend draining all the fuel and filling just the carb with fuel stabilizer to keep gaskets moist. Then drain the carb when you take it out of storage.

Have a Kubota A450-3-120 generator will start but won't run

The main jet in carb is clogged and needs to be cleaned out. It is starting on the fuel used for priming and once that runs out (almost immediately) unit will shut down for lack of fuel delivery.

GL 11000 starts & runs fine but puts out 90v. Will occasionally jump to 110v but then returns to 90. Unit is for standby power & has about 1200 hrs.

Phillip, Plug something Big into it (shop heater), to put under load for a half hour, and then check it.

Hi their. i have a kubota na 600 generator. the problem is there's is no fuel getting into the cylinder. there is fuel in the carb bowl and if i put fuel down the cylinder head via the spark plug hole

When you say you took carb apart did you put a new rebuild kit in it? If not there is your problem. The fuel eats over time the seals an they leak. There is only one fix to rebuild it or get a new carb. These kits are very cheap an easy to do. Just make sure you clean out all the orifices with something like a brass or steel bristle from a brush. Being careful not to enlarge the holes. When you remove the bowl on the carb if it has one. Be sure not to lose the springs an clean out the jets under the float. The kit for each engine is different. Use all the parts, dont skimp thinking this one is ok. Be sure to replace fuel lines at this time they get holes an cracks on them an cause all sorts of problems. This is an easy job. Your engine is sucking air, not fuel. Be sure to check to make sure passage to the engine is not clogges with somthing.

First you need to identify, is there a spark at the plugs? Is there fuel getting the cylinders, it can be so many things until you define at least that, the solutions are too many to list

I have a Honda 7000 generator. Engine will not start. Spark plug is clean and getting spark. Carburetor is clean. Float is free, needle is free. The fuel however is NOT getting from carburetor to cylinder....

If the generator is an auto stop/start type for standby use, it would seem those solenoids are the reason why fuel isn't getting through. It would be a fairly sensible method of stopping the engine remotely.

An auto start/stop generator would need a battery for starting purposes, a battery that would presumably also provide current to energise those solenoids and allow fuel to flow.

I suggest you refer to the instruction manual in the first instance...

Just won't start

check the spark plug after a failed attempt to start. If dry, then no fuel is entering engine.
Did you leave old fuel in carb? if so, your carb probably is dirty: old gasoline deposits varnish, gum, and you will need to dissassemble carb and clean it.
