Do all the electronics still work? You can do a RESET on the hand controller, then do a calibrate motors, and train the drives again.

I have a dobsonian telescope. I'm able to find an

If you point it at a STAR --- it will NOT be magnified. Stars are always just points of light no matter which scope you own.

OR do you mean it's in the finderscope but not in the main tube eyepiece?? We need more information to properly answer you.

You did put an eyepiece into the focuser-- right?

Have you set the correct, TIME, Date, Site, and Daylight Savings time correctly? Are you using a separate power pack and is it fully charged up?

Is your HOME position correct?

Check all of these first.

This link points to a document which has most of the instructions in both German and English. It may help you understand better how to use your telescope. Additionally you'll probably get 90% of the way there reading up on the use of Equatorial Mount Newtonian Reflector telescopes.

Once you have the telescope properly oriented to the compass you'll be able to use the telescope easily.

Hi, a few days back I purchased Nexstar 4SE. I set it up exactly how it says in the manual still I cannot see any magnifying views from the eye piece. While aligning the telescope I can find the moon from...

Stars will always appear as points. It is not possible to magnify them enough to see them as disks because they are all extremely far away. A telescope will however show you stars and other objects that are too dim to see with the naked eye.

You will be able to see the planets as disks, and even features on the planets, such as the bands on Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and the phases of Venus, and also moons around some planets. There are other objects that will show more detail when magnified, such as nebula. You will be able to see a lot of craters and other detail on the Moon.

Your problem is simply that you are not pointing the telescope at these objects. This seems to be one of those telescopes that "automatically" finds objects, but these so called "go to" scopes only do this when they are set up properly. I can't say what step(s) you have missed, but clearly even if the scope thinks it is pointed at the moon, if you can't see the moon, it is NOT pointed there. The Moon will fill the field of view even with the least powerful eyepiece. If you are seeing stars as points, then the eyepiece is focussed and working properly.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. Do not use the 2x barlow if you have one. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time. At night the moon show be your first target.

Sky objects are very small, many are also very dim. The scope has to be pointed directly at them to see anything.

The end with the eyepiece is POINTED UP by the way. The mirror is in the bottom of the tube. Read my TIPS on my profile page for additional help. Also this is an EQ mounted telescope. It must be polar aligned in order to work properly.

We never recommend EQ mounted telescopes to beginners.

Sky objects are VERY small the scope must be pointed directly at them--- try for the moon first --- to learn how to focus properly. Just pointing it toward the sky will not do you any good.

Things are upside down looking thru the eyepiece on main telescop

If things are upside down in your telescope, you probably have a reflector telescope.it has curved mirror in the sealed end.take off the cover near the finder and point in the general direction of what you want to see.Make adjustments with the stuff on the mount. If you are viewing terrestrial objects, you will need an inverting lens to correct the image. It is called a Barlow lens and is much longer than the other lenses that come with the telescope.Good Luck

Your telescope is a "Newtonian," as such it requires regular "collimation" Collimation the alignment of the optics. The mirrors must be lined up properly for the telescope to deliver a good image to the eyepiece. Your scope sound like it is way out of collimation. My guess is that the diagonal (secondary) mirror has rotated in it's mount. There are three basic tools for collimating a Newtonian the Sight Tube, Cheshire and Autocollimator. To get your digonal aligned correctly you need a sight tube. Rather than spend a lot on these consider making your own and keep an eye on eBay offerings. Don't bother investing in a laser collimator, they simply don't do the job unless you go for the very best. From some help with the collimation process check these links.

http://www.amateurastronomy.com/collimate.html
The 60 page pamphlet "New Perspectives on Newtonian Collimation," Fourth Edition by Vic Menard and Tippy D’Auria runs $10, but if you really want to do it right it's worth the money.
