Can you get me a diagram on electrical hookup?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.

I do not know if you have a 3 wire or 4 wire connection. For a 3 wire connection you need 15 AMPS at the breaker box. For a 4 wire connection you need 30 AMPS at the breaker box.

Three wire hookup. Center wire goes to N, the other two wires are hot. It makes not difference witch of these two wires go to L1 or L2. The ground goes to the cabinet.

Check the voltage - With a volt meter between L1 & N = 220V, L2 & N = 220V, L1 & L2 = 240. These readings are general. You may get something like 210V instead of 200V

How to connect the power to the dryer

most likely 240volts as most 120 volt dryers are already wired,depending on if its a 3 or 4 wire system depending on local electrical codes,but if its a 3 wire cord,take the RED to terminal L1 and Black to L2 terminal on the dryer terminal board HINT:(the RED and Black can go on either L1 or L2 they are interchangable) ,then the White wire to the N neutral terminal on the dryer terminal board usuall between the L1 and L2 terminal,if theres a Green Wire on the cord this is safety ground and can be attached to any metallic part on the dryer,if its a gray flat cord the 2 outside wires are L1 and L2 the center is Neutral,
so its:
RED=L1 or L2
BLACK=L1 or L2
WHITE=N or Neutral
GREEN=Safety Ground the metal dryer frame

What size wire and how does it hook to thr unit rpkb-036jaz

Look at rating plate on side of unit for Volts, Amps, Watts.
Volts x amps = watts.
If unit is 240Volts, then you need double-pole 240Volt breaker
If unit is 8500 watts at max power, then 8500 watts divided by 240Volts = 35 amps.

What size breaker for 35 amps?
When electricians figure load rating for breakers, they use the 80% rule.
40 amp breaker x 80% = 32 amp safe maximum load for 40 amp breaker. Use 8 gauge wire with 40 amp breaker.
50 amp breaker x 80% = 40 amp safe maximum for 50 amp breaker. I use 6 gauge wire with 50 amp breaker.
60 amp breaker x 80% = 48 amp safe maximum for 60 amp breaker. Again, use 6 gauge wire with 60 amp breaker.

How to connect wires to unit.
First of all, all outdoor HVAC units require power cut off located next to unit.
This lets the mechanic, or service tech turn power off to work on unit, even if the mechanic does not have access to main breaker box.

Next, open unit to see where wires connect.
If unit has wires, then connect both hot wires from 240 breaker to the wires inside unit. Connect bare ground wire to green ground screw.
If unit has terminals. The terminals will be labeled L1 L2. Connect each hot wire from 240Volt breaker to either one of the screw terminals. Then bare ground goes to green ground screw.

Copy following links for basic illustrations connecting wires to terminals, and to breakers, and selecting wire size.

I have a 3 prong plug on a kenmore 400 dryer. can I change it to a 4 prong, and how

yes,red and black on the cord go to L1 and L2 on the dryer which is the 2 power wires for the required 240volts, then the white wire is the neutral wire that in on the neutral terminal or possibly marked N most times its located between the L1 and L2 terminals,then the green wire on the cord goes to the metal body of the unit for your safety ground

I have a 2.5h 2 speed motor with 3 wires Black, Red, Blue & Green (Ground) My question is how do know what ones are L1 & L2 and N?

That model number is listed as a 230v motor (no neutral) The wires should be attached to terminals marked L1, L2 and A . L1 is high speed, L2 is common and A is low speed. Check the name plate for wiring information.

Hello my 70 series kenemore is not getting warm and the timer is not completing the cycle to turn the dryer off it just keeps running for hours

I would need a model number to better narrow the problem down for you.
If this is a gas dryer

Remove the lower panel. With the lower toe panel removed, start the dryer & watch the igniter. If the igniter glows & cuts off without lighting the gas this would usually indicate the gas valve coils are weak & will need to be replaced. For this type of repair be sure to disconnect the electrical power & turn off the gas to the dryer. If the timer is set in the auto dry cycle, it will not advance if the dryer is not heating. Once you repair the dryer, the timer should start advancing. It is possible that your old timer is good. If you need further assistance please resubmit your question.
If this is a electric dryer
The timer not advancing from 50 minutes in time dryer & the unit not heating are not related unless 1 leg of the 240 volt supply is lost. Diagnosing a problem like this will require using a volt/ohm meter. With the timer set to time dry you should be getting 240volts to the timer motor & 240volts to the heating element. In the wiring diagram provided L1 comes from the timer on R & goes through the thermal cutoff, oper thermostat & the hi-limit to provide 120volts to 1 leg of the heating element. The L2 leg goes through the motor switch to the other side of the heating element. This is how the element gets 240volts. The timer motor gets its voltage on BK from L1 & OR from L2; this is what advances the timer.
