Download a Malware/Spyware search and destroy problem form cnet.com, a good one I have used is MALWAREBYTES, yes that is the name of it and it works. Another way around the problem is to do system recovery to an earlier date that the problem wasn't present. System recovery is located in the system tools menu.

Heat dissipation from the unit in the same area of the speaker assembly, especially since you stated that the RIGHT speaker was smoked. Similar problems occur with this design flaw with any manufacturer as HP has the same problem with some of their models.
Your heat exhaust is killing the speaker, and I would also bet that your chipset is AMD and not Intel, the latter having solved it's heat dissipationn problems.
A more aggressive heat dissipation solution on the motherboard or redirection of the exhaust past fewer heat sensitive components would be a design goal.

Well the quick and dirty answer to this would simply be to order a replacement set directly from Gateway
If you check in with different computer repair centers in your local area, you can also check in with them, see if the technicians there keep a library of restore disks. I work at a tech shop myself, and we usually carry an extensive library of different restore disks for various notebooks and desktops.
SOURCE: Can I replace my gateway T-6836 laptop 250 gb hardrive
Yes, it can be upgraded for a larger drive. The important specs to know are the physical size and the interface. The size that this computer needs is the 2.5 inch and the interface is the SATA. These are the typical size and interface used today so finding a drive that fits should not be a problem.
Hope this helps.
