Have you put a new sparkplug in. Also check that the oil level is full. If still no go, check the spacing between the coil and flywheel.

What would make my 056 super av steal chainsaw not have enough fire to start I took the spark plug out an held it to metal an got very little spark not enough to start it

You really don't need much spark to start a small engine. Double check something before we go forward. Spray some carburetor cleaner into the plug hole then reinstall the plug. Spray a good amount...DON'T EVER USE STARTER FLUID, not good for small engines. Gumy out is the best.

Now start the unit as usual. If she fires up even just for a few seconds only then your issue is the carburetor. A coil will either produce spark or no spark. Only other causes can be a faulty plug or ground, which in that case simply disconnect the wire fromantic he stop switch.

So in all, u either have spark or no spark there in no in between.

Starting problems

check the battery in the key as the engine immobiliser may not be able to read the unit and assumes that you are trying to steal the car. It will allow all that you have said but will not allow the cpu to allow ignition and spark

1993 Toyota camry will not start

Check to see how much spark you have. Spark should jump at least a 3/4" inch gap. If it only jumps an eighth to a quarter inch or less than you have weak spark. If the coil is external replace it if the coil is inside the distributor replace the distributor. I almost guarantee this is a week spark issue.

2004 KIA OPTIMA WON'T START AFTER SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGES

HI. There are several areas of concern here. I will list them below. Check all areas stated in the list for faults.

Possible cuases:

1. Incorrect firing order set. On the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.7 engines. These engines are equipped with a distributor-less ignition system. This system incorporates a coil pack assembly, along with wire sets. In order for the assembly to fire correctly, the order of the wires must be set to the proper sequence. if not, the engine will not turn over, or start correctly. Make sure your firing order is correct, and make sure you have not placed a particular wire set into the wrong cylinder. I will post a picture of the correct firing order for your engine, below this list, shortly.

2. Incorrect spark plug gapping procedure. If the new spark plugs were gapped incorrectly, this will not allow for proper spark, thus, preventing optimal combustion, due to lack of fire. Check the spark plug gap using a wire gap gauge, and adjust if necessary. The gap should be 0.039-0.043 in. (1.0-1.1mm)

3. Failed coil pack assembly. This will be the worst case scenario. The coil pack supplies the necessary current that fuels each plug. The current is transferred, via wire sets. This will be the culprit if all the above areas are proven to be operational, and in good shape.

4. Failed wire sets. Replace the wire sets if faults are found at the connector at the ignition coil pack, or at the plug boot.

NOTE*
In order to provide the correct firing order for your engine, i will need the engine size and liter information, if possible. Please post this information, asap. Thanks..

Passenger side front to rear 2,4,6,8, driver side 1,3,5,7. Distributer rotates clockwise. Number 1 is usually marked on the cap.
firing_order-1.jpg Leads for distributor cap should be connected as illustrated.
RH - Right Hand side of engine, when viewed from rear.
LH - Left Hand side of engine, when viewed from rear.

check your spark with a screw driver in the boot next to an engine bolt if no spark. check your black ground wires make sure your not shorting. also there should be a safety switch on the unit check it to. check your oil to see if it smells gassy if so you may be over heating the engine. if you have ele starter and steal no spark take your starter air cover off and unplug the black ground wirer from the coil. recheck spark. if you get spark there is a wiring problem. if the coil co-oles down the spark my come back if so get a hold of me, were going have to solve the over heating problem

The mechanic should check on the ignition system first . Check the ignition switch, the ignition coil , the spark plug , the spark plug cable , the distributor assembly and the wires and the fuses.Check if there are worn out or destroyed then replace it. And then set the distributor timing mark and the firing order of the spark plug which is 1,3,4,2.These 1,3,4,2 are the number of the spark plug connecting to the distributor assembly. Then try to start the engine .The cause of the engine back fire is ignition timing not in order.

Engine

First of all not sure what you mean by back realy!
Is there a engine check light on!
if not check there is ignitiion spark. oldschool way is to take a spark plug out and earth it while its still attached to the ht lead or coil plug and turn engine over and look for spark. No spark check coli pack resitance.and cank angle sensor. Check fuel by listening for fuel pump working when ignitiion key is turned. but better to use fuel pressure tester if avalible.smell and look at spark plugs for unburnt fuel which would indicate no spark but fuel. Put it this way as long as there is fuel, spark and a fully charged battery it should try and start. take one of these away and you got proplems

check the ignition coil power source...get a test light & check for power with the key on @ the positive side of the coil...if it does have power have a friend crank the engine over & check the negative side for a flashing light..if it does then make sure you have spark @ the coil if not replace the coil
