Question about HP DesignJet 450c InkJet Printer

Media discrepancy with roll feed

Our DesignJet 450c is set up in the software to run 24" roll paper, but is actually loaded with 17" wide roll paper. It does not even have a selection for any other size roll. Do you know of a solution? My next step is to order a roll that is actually 24" wide, but we already stock 17" in house. We would like to make it work. Thanks.

Try resetting the printer properties to default and retry. Or else try reinstalling the driver software and change the settings therein.

Hope that helps!

Roll feed Paper will not load

You need to make sure that the leading edge of the paper is straight.If the leading edge is crooked or angled it will often cause a load issue. Also make sure that the roll is mounted properly on the spindle.h

Make sure your paper is aligned with the left edge of the rectanglular holes on the right side of the printer paper feed slot

those slots are monitored to check for proper paper alignement and if it is not --it spits out the paper

PRINTER DO NOT ACCEPT PAPER ON HP DESIGNJET 450C

I don't know if you are running in sheet or roll media, but we have this problem with roll media if it is not aligned properly. Usually if I release the media lever and pull 10-12" of paper through and align it with itself and with the dotted line to the right of the plotter, then it will accept it. Sometimes takes several tries. Sheet problems may be caused by dirty sensors. Good luck.

Data light and Cartridge light stays on

Clean off cartridge contacts on printer carriage where carts sit and contacts on cartridges-if they sit for long periods of time they clog up.
you will probably need new cartridge{s}
start with black and go from there.
we use alcohol.

Designjet 450C

In my 8 years of servicing plotters I haven't seen published specs as far as the paper thickness goes.But from experience and seeing my customers produce problems free plots, you don't want to plot on anything past 30 lb media. 99% of plots are done in the 18-24lbs range. Media Types: Paper (plain, vellum, coated, glossy) Film (vellum, coated, glossy, clear, matte), Translucent Bond for Black output only
Hope this helps
