If you right click the cell in question and go to Format Cells..., on the protection tab there should be a check mark in the locked box. Go to the tools menu and choose Protect and Protect Sheet, enter a password and your cells will be protected.

Any cells you want to allow changes to when the sheet is protected should have the Locked checkmark removed.

MS excel issue

Using a time format for the data cells and data that looks like 12:00:10 AM the result you want is displayed no matter which formula is used. If the date portion of the data cell is not deleted then the result is 00:00:00. Delete the date portion of your data cells to get the result you want. (For example: When I enter 10 into a cell that is formated for time xx:xx:xx it shows 1/11/1904 12:00:00 AM in the formula bar and 00:00:00 in the cell. When I delete 1/11/1904 in the formula bar and show only the 12:00:10 the cell shows 00:00:10. Then it makes no difference which formula you use.)

When I create a formula in a cell, hit enter, I get #VALUE. How do I get the actual result to appear, instead of #VALUE?

#VALUE? is an error indication meaning that Excel can't process the formula. It is most likely the result of a bad cell reference in your formula, for example, you may be trying to perform mathematical operations on a cell that contains non-numeric text data.
