Question about Bosch 3.81 cu ft WFMC530 1UC Nexxt 500 Plus Series Washer

1 Answer

The most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 Plus washer gave the E:13 error message mid-cycle, and the door won't release so I can open it. I did all the troubleshooting things in the manual and spoke to a Bosch technician over the phone. I flipped the trip switch for a half hour, but it apparently didn't reset the machine. Could there be something clogging or blocking something inside? It's been locked now with a load inside for about 48 hours, plenty of time for any sudsing to subside, if that were the problem. Thanks for your help!

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I can't believe the person you spoke to didn't give you more info, specifically the most common problem when dealing with the "E13" error. I do believe you, I'm just embarrassed as a member of this industry with the service at times.
Just proves my suspicion those call centers are nothing more than an answering service with generic "trouble-shooting tips" on a computer screen...not technicians. Fortunately I am an authorized Bosch technician and should be able to get you going. The E13 error code on the WFMC series Bosch washer`s refer to a drainage problem, as you may or may not already know. ( or in Bosch terms "pump time exceeded" )

Anyway, here`s the most likely way to remedy a E13 code.

**Unplug the washer from the wall or turn off the breaker before attempting any repairs**

Get some towels and if possible a wet/dry vac. If the machine drained, it won't be too bad. If your machine is stuck full of water, that sucks...hopefully you won't get too wet. ( maybe you`re lucky enough to be close to a floor drain )

  1. Locate the round door on the front of the machine (about 6" in diameter, lower right corner) The most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 - macmarkus_26.jpg
  2. Find a drill bit or small screwdriver that fits in the hole in the round door.

3. Insert the bit into the hole in the door. It will push in a tab, it doesn't take much force. Rotate the hole (clockwise) to 6'oclock and it should come free. (the edges are very sharp so be careful).

4. Once the door is out of the way you'll be greeted by a 3-4" plastic cap with wings so you can unscrew it by hand or with the aid ofThe most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 - macmarkus_32.jpg

( you should also see a ring with a string attached, if you pull this the door should unlatch, but The most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 - macmarkus_31.jpgr out first is usually a good plan )

There is a small collector lip at the bottom of the cap, that is where you can hold the wet/dry vac to catch the water. Unscrew slowly so you don't get flooded, until it is unscrewed all the way out

5. Now pull out the trap and visuallThe most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 - macmarkus_28.jpgside of the pump as well as the filter/trap. Hopefully you'll find the item/The most apparent problem is that my Bosch 500 - macmarkus_29.jpgiated the error code.macmarkus_28.jpg

6. After removing any debris or obstruction`s re-install the button trap/lint filter and plug the washer in to power or reset the breaker and give it a test.

7. Run a load and watch for leaks. Leave the pump access door off until you are sure you screwed the cap in tight and there are no leaks.

Ultimately you may have a faulty drain pump, but I would certainly start by performing the things I listed first.

Let me know if you require further assistance and if not and this solves your problem, please rate the solution I provided accordingly.

Thank you for coming to "FixYa" and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

My Bosch Vision 300/500 DLX series washer machine washer stopped in mid cycle, with error code 13. What to do

The code means that the water is taking to long to pump out
unsrew the pump filter at the bottom front right
have some towel ready to soak up the water
clean and replace filter
most times this fixes the fault
if it doesn't then check for a blocked drain hose or faulty pressure switch

Bosch 500 washer won't finish rinse cycle. Flashing error code13

Timed out on drain cycle, basically you either have an outlet blockage or something is trapped in the pump, you can check the pump by opening the bottom right flap on the front panel, manually emptying the w/m and checking the pump filter for coins etc. Also, check the outlet isn't blocked.
Good Luck.

My Bosch front loading washer is flashing E:13 and won't open

Hi, i had an E-13 error code on my Bosch 500 series washer. The drain pump impeller was plugged. Access the drain impeller at the bottom front right corner. Just put a pen in the hole and turn the cover. Then you need to manually drain the washer. I used a shop vac by just turning the cap until it started to leak and vacuum the water as it comes out, this takes quite a while. When you get it drained you can take the cap completely off. When I did I found a wipe in the impeller. I took it out and put it back together and the washer worked just as before.

Take care

Error code E:13 on my 500 plus series washer

Hi,
The E13 error code on your Bosch washer refer to a drainage problem or the pump time might have been exceeded
Either it might be due to a clogged pump, improper detergent being used, ( must use "HE" detergent ) hence suds not allowing a proper drain cycle. You should clean water drainage pipe and/or drain hose. Turn selector to off and restart 'drain, program or, on 500 plus machines, the 'refresh' program. It also says this is caused by using too much detergent. Bosch recommends using half of what the manufacturer recommends when using HE detergents. They don't recommend regular detergents. First run the short wash or refresh cycle without detergent and hopefully your lines will clear.

Thank you !!

My washer has E:13 on the display. I called Bosch

According to the service manual, you should clean water drainage pipe and/or drain hose. Turn selector to off and restart 'drain, program or, on 500 plus machines, the 'refresh' program. It also says this is caused by using too much detergent. Bosch recommends using half of what the manufacturer recommends when using HE detergents. They don't recommend regular detergents. I would run the short wash or refresh cycle without detergent and hopefully your lines will clear. I have also read that if this persists, powder HE detergent is better to use instead of the liquid because of certain chemicals contained in the liquids that cause it to congeal in some front loader drainage pipes. I hope this helps.
