Question about Linksys WUSB100 Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

With every 2nd or third time the pc is powered on (Windows XP) using Linksys WUSB100 wireless Network Adapter, results in a status of "no connection" to the network. Signal Strength is nothing. No SSID, No MAC. I then do a "Restart" of the pc, and it comes up O.K. with good signal strength..91% to 100%.. The router is 20 feet from the Wireless adapter. Have a feeling there is a software struggle going on betweens the Windows XP firewall software, and the Wireless Adapter hardware driver and software. Any suggestions? I tried Linksys Tech support, which recommended updating WUSB100 driver software.. I tried that and found I have the newest current level of driver software.

Just a quick question? can you change the channel on a Linksys WUSB100

I'm going to assume you are using a wireless router, and are trying to figure out how to change what channel you connect to it on.

All you need to do is change the channel on your wireless router, and the adapter will automatically connect on that channel.

Connecting WUSB100 to Wireless G WRT54G

laptops have a wide range reciever built around the screen and tend to be far better than a normal usb dongle.

The fact that your pc is downstairs will be effected a lot because the signals from the router will be bouncing around in an area around the antenna and above, signals below will be effected by floors, doors and wall partitions.

Your best solution would be to place the router on a phone line downstairs and see if the signal is increased.
