Question about RCA Audio Players & Recorders
We purchased the RCA DTA800 from Wal-Mart for $49.87 for my mother-in-law. She live in the Lake of the Woods county in northern Minnesota and receives 3 UHF channels (59, 61, 63). I tried to hook up the unit since she has a anolog TV and it states it could not find a signal and I could not install the unit. Do we need a different unit to receive UHF channels or what may be the problem? We receive the channels normally just find with the antenna she currently has.
I am not from that part of the country, so I can't say for sure, but check the following:
1) Are the UHF channels local and small stations? If so and under a certain power level, they are not required to broadcast in digital. THere may not be digital UHF channels local to you.
2) The changeover is required by law to occur by Feb 2009. Not all stations have made the change yet. You could still be in an area where the stations have not yet converted to digital broadcasts.
Make a few calls to find out which category yuo fall under above. If you don't fall into either of the above, update this and we'll look elsewhere for the problem.
