Have you removed, dismantled and cleaned the carb? that is usually the biggest problem.

A dirty carb will allow gas to carb, but won't mix gas and air properly in the motor.
If you have spark, then coil and plug should be fine.

watch the spark weather it have continuity or not, some machine may show spark while we crank but it does not spark all times.please check it with spare ignition coil and plug

If you have no spark or intermittent spark, then either the spark plug is bad, or the coil pack is bad. They only have two bolts holding them on.

Hi,
Sounds like the needle valve is sticking open. Could be as simple as cleaning it.

SOURCE: Have a Poulan Gas Powered Chain Saw, I haven't started in 10 yrs.

Not used in 10 years. Was there gas left in the tank? If so the carb is likely gummed up and may need to be taken apart and soaked in "Gunk" solvent and a new kit installed.

SOURCE: echo chain saw 16 inch will not start

You need to play about with the timing adjustment.
You can adjust the timing by two different methods.
The first is to adjust the space on the spark plug.
The other is to adjust the gap between the contact, and the coil/magneto.
There ya go, FixedYa !))
Don't forget to rate, thanks.

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode. HTH

Chain saw will not start

sure sounds like you did it all.
Was the Plug wet with gas when you took it out to fuel it directly? I would take the plug back out, blow out or let the Cylinder totally dry. Then spray a bit of Starter fluid in the carb and see if you get life.
Old gas left in a saw is a Carburetor killer. The paper components in these carbs can not stand the new 10% ethanol gas.

New spark plug plus new air and fuel filter. Chainsaw will not start or even fire.

If there is a good spark and fuel getting to the plug there are only two reasons why it will not fire, sheared flywheel key knocking the timing out, or it has partly seized and has low compression.

Can not start the ms180 chain saw, tried new plug, new gas, starting fluid etc. suggestions ran this morning, and now will not start. only been used twice

Remove the plug and then plug into plug wire. With the spark plug laying on top of engine pull the recoil a couple times and you should see spark at the plug. If all is good and there is the proper mixture of gas/oil ratio in saw then >>With trigger depressed fully and choke on, pull until it fires and then shove the choke in. /////If no spark and the saw is new, I would return to retailer.

New saw - will not start. Have put in premium gas/oil mix. Getting spark from plug when cord pulled. Hasn't even fired once.

It's possible the brake is on. Try pushing the brake forward then pulling it back until you hear it click. Then try cranking it again.

Husqvarna 51 died and wont restart

hi
if you have a good compression,a strong enough blue spark and carburetion for the fuel air mixture try priming the engine(put small amount of gas in the spark plug hole)then start the engine. If the engine runs only the gas you put inside the cilinder there is a carburetion problem to find and fix.
let me know regards savumihai71

Doesn't want to start. Replace carb and ran for few seconds, Make you think that it is not getting gas, but pouring gas into spark plug does not help and drying spark plug dose not help. Spark appears...

The spark should be blue and snappy. Try a new plug--any help? If not, it may need a new ignition module. Check the flywheel magnets--they should be quite strong. The module gap with the magnets underneath the poles should be about business card thickness. Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Hope this gets it running!

Saw was running and quit checked gas and oil both are full

Check to see if you are getting spark. If you are getting spark then it is not getting fuel. Try sparying starter fliud in the carb. If is starts then stops. Take the fuel line off to see if something is obstructing the line. Also the fuel filter can be changed.
If you are not getting spark with the spark plu relace the plug. Also to check the spark, remove the plug and put a screw driver in the plug wire and ground the screwdriver. a spark should come off the screwdriver

check that plug is getting spark (remove plug, w/ cap attached hold tip of plug on cooling fin. pull starter rope, should see spark). if not receiving gas check filter in tank, if ok procede to carb possibly add a bit of starter fluid.
