Hi gr... Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts in the remote with the eraser end of a common pencil. Install brand new batteries and try it. If it still doesn't work replace it with a factory original http://www.remotes.com/?gclid=CLjJtraGzqUCFYHc4Aod3nXAkw

Unfortunately you need the remote to do that for sure. What is the make / model of the TV in question? I can try to find the original remote for you, almost always I can.

Just reply to my answer here with the information and I will track it down.

Thanks
Tim

OK, just kidding. If your TV or its remote control has a Reset button you can press it twice to reset the TV to original factory conditions (but you lose all customised picture and sound settings). If the TV receives its signal from a cable box or DVR, try connecting a different device such as a DVD or Blu-ray player and play a movie disc. If the problem on your TV screen still exists that suggests the TV needs repair or replacement. If the picture is OK when playing a DVD movie that suggests that your cable box or DVR is faulty and needs replacing (usually free from the cable TV company).

Dish Net Remote Operates both Televisions. How Can I reprogram one remote?

Joy Middleton,

I do hope this has been resolved for you by now, but just in case there are some things to try to get this fixed :).

The receiver may be in single mode. In single mode, both TV's can share the same picture and one remote will change both TV's. On the front of your receiver may be a "mode" button. If it's there, push it and the mode will switch between Dual and Single. There is an orange mode light that will moved.

If it's in dual and the problem continues then the remotes may need to be addressed to a different frequency. I listed the steps below!

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.

If you have any other questions or need further assistance just let me know!

Tv does not recognize the remote

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is of its remote control handset itself. If the remote control handset do not emit infrared rays, it can be said to be dead, and not work at all. I've incuded a link below, to know you how can a remote cantrol be got repaired. In most cases, it will be immpossible to repair, but you can try to repair it, if original one is difficult to find. Click this lin for details.
http://www.fixya.com/support/r10192276-cleaning_remote_control_handsets
The second possibility is with a defective infrared sensor. It is inside the TV, and you have to open the TV to acess it. It can be located just behind the infrared receiver window, at the front panel of the TV. It is a three solder terminal component, look somewhat brownish back in color. I've inclused some pictures of it. It can be of different shapes to different TVs. If remote control is OK, jsut repalce this sensor.

My original remote is not working. I bought a universal remote and it doesn't work either. Can't get a remote to work on the tv

Hello
The remote sensor inside the circuit board of your TV is faulty. It is the component that receives the infrared signals of the remote control. If this component go faulty, no remote control will go with the TV. This component can be located on the front panel board of the TV just behind the infrared sensor window at the front. You have to open your TV to locate this component. It is a three terminal component, look brownish black in colour. The sample picture of it has attached here. It is very cheap to buy, and can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. If you have a concept of soldering and resoldering, you can replace this component yourself at home OK.

I cannot find picture controls for my tv? No sound controls button either!!

On most TVs, all the picture and sound adjustments are made through on-screen menus. To get to them, you need the original TV remote control (or a compatible replacement) with the proper MENU functions. On some sets there's one main menu to work through, while others have separate buttons for picture and sound control settings.

Some brands and models of TV have a front-panel menu button. Maybe yours does. Sadly, though, many sets now have just a power button and need the remote control for everything else. The biggest trouble I find is that people get used to using the remote that comes with a cable box, satellite receiver or similar device which will turn the TV on and off but that's all. The original remote mysteriously gets lost (I've actually run into people who threw the original control out because they didn't think they needed it), and then you find you can't get at any other TV settings. It's especially annoying if you can't switch to another input, say for a game console or DVD player.

Hopefully, you still have your control. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

My Memorex remote control no work, and I by another philips universal remote control, and no work to... I confused can you hel me?

If you are sure the original remote works before and after the battery change then you have a problen with the IR-receiver of the tv set. Simple test to check your original remote is using a pocket radio, set on AM frequentie and press any botton one by one holding the remote close to the receiver of the radio. If your remote is alright it has to make a whinning sound (a high freuqeuntie pitch sound).
There are different kind of IR receiver so you need the right part to replace it. Or take the set to the shop.

No video/audio when pressing remote control or on the TV set

Moved my TV to another satellite receiver.
I received picture & audio.
Then I moved the TV back to its original position.

Now it works OK.

I probably hit a button that shut off my picture & sound.

I am mystified.

Thanks anyway.

Denon avr-1907 sound from TV stopped working

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

Remote control

Hello,

Just to make sure you have the correct remote, please match the part number you received to the part number in the link below (this is the original direct from Philips for that model).

50P8341 Original Replacement Remote

If the remote is correct, then you may have a problem with your IR remote receiver that is located on the TV set. This part however has been discontinued.

You can check the remote by holding it very near an AM radio. Have the radio turned on and tuned about the middle of the AM broadcast band and push the button on your remote. You should hear a popping sound come through your radio speaker. If you can't hear anything, try moving the remote around and tuning the radio. If all fails then the remote is not working. If you DO hear the popping sounds then you have a problem with the IR receiver in you TV. There's a little plastic "window" in the front of your set where the IR signal enters. If dust has collected on the inside this could block the IR signals from entering. Also the IR receiver itself may have gone bad. The remote for this TV has to be an exact replacement. I've had this problem too by trying a substitute. Stargazer
