Display problem I've just reinstalled windows 98SE in my old thinkpad 600, but the desktop is reduced to the size of the Easy set up screen, went to properties/settings, and the screen area sliding bar is frozen in 640 by 480 pixels and 16 colors, I hope there are still hope for the old girl. Thank you people

Your display driver is the windows generic driver. You need the video driver from IBM for your model machine. Installing the correct driver will give you the higher resolution you seek.

Hi there,

I've seen this before, the main problem is that the resolution is set too low, so it only fills part of the screen.

two ways to solve it.

1. Adjust the resolution to the optimal setting so it fills the entire screen.

2. Find the Picture Scaling option and have it Scale the picture to the entire screen.

To adjust the resolution, now its been a long time since I used windows 98, but I think you got to it by going to your desktop with the background, right click anywhere on the empty space and select properties, now on the window that opens it was the last page, settings I think, you should get an representation of your screen with a resolution lever and color options, pull the resolution lever one point to the right and hit apply and ok, do this until the picture fills the entire screen.

If your laptop has internet connectivity, I could take a look at it over remote support and solve the problem for you.

How do i change the screen from vertical display to horizontal

The IBM ThinkPad Z61t computer runs the Windows operating system. Normally, Windows is displayed on a monitor in a manner that makes it easy to read. If you want to change the screen display configuration (from vertical to horizontal), modify the screen display properties in Windows itself. This process causes the computer to rotate the image displayed on the screen by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, depending on the setting you choose.

1.Right-click on an empty portion of the Windows desktop on the Z61t.

2.Click "Properties."

3.Click "Display."

4.Click "Change display settings."

5.Click the "Orientation" drop-down window. Select the "Landscape" option to make the screen display items in a horizontal manner.

Hi I am receving error in creations company in tally error in tdl insufficient height to allocate

on any pc if you get error "insufficient height to allocate".. then just set the dpi of your pc/laptop to 100%, (you can adjust dpi from display settings) and try to use tally, this might solve ur problem.
if the above doesn't solve ur problem, then go to screen resolution setting and select 800 x 600 resolution. this might solve ur problem to most extent.
if still u are facing the prob then go to display setting of windows and reduce the font size of menu, message box, active title bar, non-active title bar and etc... reduce fonts of all..
tats all

Game display only occupies the center portion of monitor not full screen. Thinkpad A22m w/ windows xp home SP3. Can't get the game screen to display on the full monitor screen.

It is most likely that the game is unable to operate at the resolution that your screen is set at and is compensating by sizing the game window to the required size. You might change you display resolution to a lower setting.
Hope this helps! Rate my solution!

My IBM Thinkpad A21m was working fine, then all of a sudden, the display screen size is about half of normal. When I plug a desktop monitor into it, the screen is full size. What's going on?

right click on an area of BLANK desktop and select properties
Now go to the SETTINGS tab and check the resolution and adjust it to a little higher. click APPLY then OK

If all went well you should notice a difference If not report back to this post and w will see what else needs to be done

If it did make a difference then adjust it more if you need.

Resolution on a T41 2373 Thinkpad

Hello bill, the problem may be in your setting's,
try going to the display propertie's, click on setting's at the top of the display propertie's box, at the bottom click on advanced, another propertie's box should pop up, look to see if there's a display listed, if so click on it, there should be two choice's, one for panel the other for monitor, click on the panel, a panel propertie's box should pop up with a spot in it that say's scale image to panel size, put a check in that box, then click ok. you should now be able to change resolution with a full screen.

Adjustment of the resolution on an IBM Thinkpad 2373

You can adjust your Screen Resolution, by Right clicking on your Desktop - then left click on Properties - here depending on your operating system (windows XP or Vista), you can go to the Display Properties, Settings Tab, there you can adjust your Screen Resolution to the less (lowest) possible number which might be 800x600 or maybe even 640x480 - either way, lower it down to make the icons and text larger in appeareance, this will effect the outcome of many of your applications, but most will allow you to scroll as necessary to view the entire window if necessary.

Replace LCD screen

All modern thinkpads are similar, you start by taking apart keyboard and top cover, then you unscrew hinges and remove screen. Here is some movie:

IBM T20 2647 loaded with Microsoft XP pro

you should be able to right click on your desktop and select properties and on the settings tab select the screen resolution to atleast 800 x 600, if you cannot and only 640 x 480 is available, the the driver may be corrupt for you graphics card. Go to the link below and download the driver for your graphics from here and install:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4JRNJB Go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look in the list at graphics adapters, right click on it and select update driver and the downloaded driver should be found, you may see an exclamation mark at the graphics line, this wiil mean there is no driver for the card and by right clicking again on it and select update driver should sort it, reboot pc and see if you can alter the screen resolution.

ibm thinkpad does not boot My IBM Thinkpad 600 (Type 2645-310) stops and hang during bootup. What happens is: 1. LED test, then green Power on and orange battery/charging 3. RAM OK (Responds when I take out /put in different amount of RAM and displays correctly. I have 128 + 32 removable, + 32 internal not possible to take out) 2. I can hear fan, CD drive and evt diskette drive. If I use diskette drive the LED wil give 1 blink, if I use CD drive it will give 14 blink. 3. No cursor seen, but this is displayed: Upper left show the amount of RAM present: 196032 KB OK Upper right IBMs logo in blue; IBM Lower left shows "ThinkPad(R)" in large letters and red dot over "i". 4. Then a "rrrrrr" sound from the loudspeakers after a while, this is in fact 28 clicks shortly after each other. Then nothing more happens. Diskette and CD drive is OK (But can not be used because bootup is never finished). I hear CD speed up and then down again but nothing more happens. No effect in booting with bootable diskette or CD, "Live Linux" CD or else. Backup battery OK (3V) and if I take it out I will be asked for correct date and time when Power on. I can then use keyboard or TrackPoint to set date and time, and after that hangup at the usual point. Starting without battery, HDD, CD drive and removable memory sticks makes no difference in symptoms. Pressing and holding F1 before and during poweron and startup (in order to enter BIOS and selftest) has no effect. I could not find help on IBMs home page, but maybe I did not look at the right place. Is somebody able to help me?
