Thick lines on screen

Inch thick dark lines are on the screen of the viewfinder and television. Why is this and how can they be removed? Cheers I have the same problem. It started after the cam corder indictaed on the LCD that the head needs to be cleaned. After we cleanded the head, it started with the black horizontal lines spaced about the same distance as the bid that does not have the lines. No problem while recording, (no lines), but as soon as we play back we get the horizontal lines????

Probably no7 what I wanted to hear. I will take the Recorder to a service centre, and get a quote.
If it is to much, it will go in the trash can. One thing for sure, this is the last time that I have purchased a PANASONIC. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I WILL BUY THE CHEAPEST RECORDER NEXT TIME AND TRASH IT WHEN IT FAILS.

Try a hard reset first: remove battery, unplug from AC source, remove all recording media and wait 10 minutes.
If that doesnt resolve the issue, it could be an issue with the circuitry. Try replacing the cable btween camcorder and TV and see if that helps..

Could be that you damaged the head while cleaning it. Try cleaning it again with isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. Wait for it to dry completely and make sure there is no fibres, etc left behind. Try again and see, If you still have the same issue, the playback/recording head may need to be replaced.

I think this requires a professional diagnostic done on the device. I would suggest you contact your dealer or panasonic for repairs, it seems quite serious.

When I try to replay my tapes there are thick, grey lines on the screen. Help!!!!!

This is one of a few things either one the formatting on your tapes and camera are diffrent which causes the thick gray lines because they are not compatable or two the tapes are bad and the either if there disks are laser burned or if they are tapes they are smudged either way try this buy some new tapes and go into your formatting settings and see if they match that which the tapes run on

i suggest you insert a head cleaning casette to see if this removes the lines.the lines occur when one of the heads is dirty or not operating. if this does not solve the fault then the head might need changing.
