Hi, Yes it is a form of grease. The sealed bearing that the paddle shaft fits through has failed and is leaking out the lubrication. You will need a new bread pan. (Sorry it took so long for you to get a reply). Hank

Where is the ol coming from?

There is a rubber seal in the bottom of your pan that has failed. There is grease under that seal to keep the spindle that turns the paddle lubricated. If your breadmaker is still under warranty contact Cusinart to get help. If it is no longer under warranty then you could still probably order a new pan from them. If you just want to get rid of the darn thing you can always send it to me. At least that way it won't end up in a landfill. You can reach me at daryl441@msn.com

The paddle keeps coming off during mixing and leaving a black stain in the dough

Hi, The sealed bearing located on the bottom of the bread pan has failed. This bearing is sealed with lubricant to allow the paddle shaft to spin easily. The black stain you see is the lubricating grease. You need a new bread pan. Hank

I purchased a b2300 bread machine and did not get the mixing blades with machine , how do i get these?

As you know there are 2 paddles. You can order them here for $12.99 each.

If the product is new you should contact Black and Decker using the number in your users manual or 1-800-231-9786 and ask how to get your blades for your new bread maker. This is a bonafide warranty situation.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, I love my Black&Decker bread maker, but recently it has black swirl stuff on the bottom of the bread. I found it was from the center mixer. The mixer is getting loose and it can be moved up and...

Hi Jenny,
The black swirl stuff is the lubrication from the bearing that used to be sealed on the bottom center of the bread pan. (The paddle fits onto this bearing shaft). That bearing is broken and is leaking, causing the whole bearing and shaft to move. Time for a new bread pan.

Black & Decker B2250 - Recipies

Here's a good basic white bread recipe that works great with a BD2550 (and usually doesn't even **** the mixing blade off of the bottom of the machine)

1 cup warm (not hot) water
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 tablespoons butter/margarine
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon yeast

Heat the water and add the milk to it. Dissolve the sugar and salt into this mix and pour the liquid into the bottom of the bread maker bucket (make sure the mixing blade is already in). Melt and add the butter to this mix. Add the 4 cups of flour directly on top, but do not mix it in. The flour will float on top of the liquid. Make a small dimple in the top of the flour in the middle with your finger and add the yeast into that little crater (at no point while adding ingredients do you let the yeast touch the liquid). Set the bread maker for basic setting 1, light crust, 2lb loaf and let it do it's thing. 3 hours later, you'll have a nice loaf of white bread with good consistency and density, and it usually leaves the mixing blade in the bucket (rather than having to dig it out of the loaf after).

Hope this helps!

Hi spudguard,

If you're looking for OEM parts, I'd go to

http://tinyurl.com/3jmx4g

There's a Service & Support link at the top of the page - locations of service centers and the like.

You can also call Zojirushi Customer Service Department - -

800-733-6270, M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST.

Also here's a TinyURL for the manual download page, just so you have it.

http://tinyurl.com/z39gu

If these don't pan-out (no pun intended, I think), the next place I'd start hunting is eBay.

As for fixing the black plastic base, you'd have to describe what kind of plastic it is, and whether or not you plan to DIY or have it done, is it subject to high temps, etc. For a lot of that stuff, it's easier to get new unless you're going to glue it up yourself, but you should know what you're doing or get help. I'll give you more advice if you give me more information.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Jon
