First of all you have a couple of issues..

The power button on those old systems don't allow for shutoff by power button when there is an issue, odd i know but I just had one in this week...

As for registering it sounds as if the system just went through a reinstall atleast more then 30 days ago.

Try starting the system with the disc in the drive, when the system starts up try clicking ESC button or F12.

that should allow you the chance to click start from disc and restart all over again.

I have a hp g56-122us. When I turn it on, it freezes up on the sign in page. Any help

if your using a windows operating system try booting to safemode. you can access this by pressing F8 after turning on the computer. if the computer does not lock up in safemode then try clearing the startup by going to start>run> type in "MSCONFIG" > go to the startup tab > uncheck everything then reboot. if it still locks up, remove all external devices. if the computer is still locking up try reseating the memory modules (check manual for how to instructions). if you have more than one memory you can try to power on the system with just one memory. if your still having problems I would recommend that you run a hardware diagnostic on the Harddrive and memory. if diagnostics passes and system still locking up you might end up doing a reinstallation of the operating system.

Computer freezes when I sign onto my accont

Hi,

To resolve this issue, shutdown the computer and Restart it, as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select, "Last Good Known Configuration" and hit "Enter" key. It should take care of the issue. If not, then boot the computer to "Safemode", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode" from the Advance boot menu. If it is booting to Safemode, then perform a system restore to previous date. If nothing happens, then you have to perfomr a full system restore. You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and Regards,

Well I was on my computer trying to finish my paper due for school and I saved my paper to my computer first then I wanted to plug in my usb so that I could save it to my usb and take it to school the next...

Sounds like there may have been a virus on the USB drive..
OR when you inserted the USB drive it shorted the usb port.
Can you boot into safe mode (F8)?
Can you get a windows disk to boot?
Please get back intouch if you can boot up either way.
If you cant, you may need to be looking for a repair shop

My computer is an everex running windows xp home edition. My computer will not do anything keep stating it is restarting setup. Then it freezes, it will not let me safe booth or do anything but turn it off...

Ok it needs to have a file disabled that says " restart on faults."
To get to it. Put the XP disc in the drive with the computer turned off.
Start the computer. It should ask if you want to hit any key to boot off the disc.If so tap any key.
(If it does not ask as above you need to change the way the computer boots.. Turn it off. As it restarts tap the delete key to enter the BIOS. In that window you will see a tab 'boot order" Click the tab and follow the instructions to make the DVD or CD drive the first device to boot from. Then the hard drive 2nd.
the instructions are usually in a littlesquare box bottom right and may be using the - and + keys or page up and page down keys to change the order.
When you get the order correct, escape from the BIOS and SAVE what you have done by clicking on save and exit.
The machine will boot off the disc and offer a repair option. The os you select is 1.

My computer keeps freezing and crashing can you help

Try the following for a freezing or crashing computer:
1) General maintenance - open the computer case and blow out the dust with a can of compressed air (do not shake can).  Aim air at CPU fan, power supply fan.
2) Turn on computer, does the CPU fan spin?  It should
3) Turn off computer, remove memory modules and reinsert memory modules.  Take care to make sure they are lined up correctly, they can only go in one way.  Use the tabs to remove them.
4) Make a Memtest CD from www.memtest.org.  Follow the instructions there to test the RAM for bad memory chips.
5) Make a knoppix live cd from www.knoppix.org.  Follow the instructions there to boot into knoppix.  Does it crash when running knoppix?  If not it could be Windows that is the culprit.

OK do you want to setup your computer with windows operating system.
Try ; when you see the american megatrend press del or delete do enter the bios setup.
if your in the " bios setup utility" press the " right arrow' of your keyboard to " boot" tab, ant then; down to "boot device priority" then enter. see the 1st,2nd, 3rd boot device, in there select "CD/DVD" boot then press + sign until CD/DVD is in 1st boot. and the press "F10" to save and exit. computer reboot.

If see the " press any key to boot from CD/DVD" (something like that) strike any key and then wait. you are on your way just follow the instruction.

Mouse freezes

I had the same problem. The following solution from 3M support fixed it. We Normally see this problem on laptop computers running Windows XP. There is a power management setting in the Device Manager, which controls the USB Root Hub. Often this setting is selected to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". When control of the mouse is needed again, the computer is unable to turn the device back on. To remove this power management feature follow the instructions below. 1. Right click on the "My Computer" Icon on your Windows Desktop 2. Select "Properties" from the Menu 3. Click on the "Hardware" tab in the system properties window 4. Click on the "Device Manager" button 5. Click on the (+) plus sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controller" in the Device Manager 6. Locate the "USB Root Hub" (Note: there may be more than one, and you will need to change all of them), double-click on the "USB Root Hub" to access the properties windows for that device. 7. Click on the "Power Management" tab 8. Remove the checkmark from the box containing the following option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" 9. Click "ok" 10. Close the Device Manager and all other open Windows Test the Mouse to be sure that the new settings are working. You should now be able to leave the mouse unused without it being turned off by the operation system.
