The best batteries in high-drain devices (like digital cameras) are the Energizer Lithium AA's. We sell tons of them to customers who re-purchase them again and again from us. As to why your Pentax is consuming them at such a high rate is a mystery. Try the Energizers, I fully believe you'll see a huge difference.

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I inadvertently programmed the date stamp on instead of off. Is there any way I can remove the date stamp from the photos that I have taken? The camera is a Pentax Optio 60.

The pixels behind the numbers are permanently lost. You can edit the photos just like any other photos, but it would be an edit, not a restoration. It's just like removing an unwanted person or signpost from a picture.

Hello.

The Pentax Optio 60 does not charge batteries. You must purchase a battery charger and rechargable batteries and charge them yourself.
The AC Power Adapter cable just powers the camera, it does not charge the batteries.

Hope this helps.
