If you've tried several different pairs of headphones and have encountered the same problem with every pair, you could possibly be looking at a defective headphone jack. In some cases when headphones are unable to make a secure connection within the jack, they may only receive an audio signal through one of the two speakers.
Unfortunately, this means that you may want to seek repairs on your iPod at this time. If you are still covered under the manufacturer's warranty, I would strongly suggest contacting Apple first for more information or further assistance. Many manufacturers may be able to provide faster solutions than third-party service facilities for problems with their products, but remember that it may be necessary to ship your iPod out for repairs.

It sounds like you have a Bad Head Phone Jack That needs to be replaced. Was it ever dropped directly onto the EarPhone Jack Port where the plug goes into? If so you need a HeadPhone Jack Replacement.
