Hi, first the approximate ink shown by the software
in computer is not always correct.cartidge may have very low ink level. second reason may be nozzle of cartridge may be
blocked due to dust. so first try to clean the cartridge nozzle with
moist cotton or with tissue paper. if the problem continue replace the cartridge
with new one.
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application. 2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own. Hope this help.
The ink level indicator is only an estimate to give you an idea when it's time to buy a new cartridge. You cannot reset the ink level indicator so simply ignore it if you refill your cartridges. See pg 72 of the user manual which you can get here:

Ensure that the power light is on.
Open the cartridge door.
The cartridge carrier may move slightly, and then return to the loading position.
Push up on the cartridge lever. The cartridge holder springs open.
Remove the old print cartridge and dispose of it.
Remove the sticker and transparent tape from the new print cartridge.
Warning! Do not touch the gold contact area on the print cartridge.
Install the new print cartridge as illustrated below. Insert
the cartridge into the carrier slot. Push the cartridge lever back to
secure it under the cartridge hook. Press the cartridge lever down
until it snaps into place.
Insert the color cartridge in the front carrier slot. Insert the black cartridge in the back carrier slot.
Close the cartridge door.
On the PC, open the Lexmark i3 Solution Center and click Print Cartridges.
Then click Print Cartridge Installation and follow the on-screen instructions to install the cartridges.
Remove the cartridge, take a flashlight and check the right side inside the printer for a RED LED (in the place where the cartidge stays). Take a tape and patch that LED. That's all ! Enjoy
kiwipom, While ink cartridges look like plastic cups that only hold ink...they are not. The information the printer needs to think it has a "NEW" set of ink cartridges is on the cartridge itself. You must fakeout the printer to believe you are inserting "new lexmark" inks. Printer companies make money from the repeated sale of the ink, not the printer itself. I had an old epson that I would refill I would then have to place pieces of tape on the cartridge turn the printer on, remove the cartridge move the tape to another side of the cartridge turn on again etc. Anyway lexmark may need the same. When the new original cartridges show try them first to get the printer "thinking" correctly.
Let me know what happens.
Good Luck,
Tim
