There is a laser that can be covered in toner that is located under the top cover. If you remove the toner cartridge and feel under the top cover, you should feel a credit card width slot that extends over the length of the toner bay. If you fold some paper or use a cloth, you can fit this into the slot. This might not appear much debris or dirt however this dramatically improves the quality of the print and makes the image much darker and clearer. Hope this help!

Xerox Phaser 6110 Banding Cure

As usual, my Phaser 6110N (light use, home office network duty, printed less than 2000 pages in the 4 years or so I've had it) developed a banding issue. Rather than invest in a new toner unit, I decided to take it apart and have a look at it. What I discovered is the toner feed mechanism was clogging up and not distributing toner to the imaging drum.

This is a messy job, I did it in the bathtub (dry of course!), and it's simply a case of removing the side covers from the imaging unit (I'd recommend putting the drum in a thick black plastic bag to prevent overexposure) taking care not to lose any parts, and sliding the toner feeders out of the unit. You can then remove the top cover and it will allow you to clean out the mechanism with a small dry paintbrush.

Remove just enough to de-clog the mechanism, and especially the feed conveyor at the back - this takes toner from the cartridge and feeds to the roller screws that feed the imaging drum.

If you've only got banding problems with one colour, only de-clog that particular colour. It's messy and no point wasting expensive toner! Black and red where problems for me, in both cases the conveyor mechanism was chock full of toner and there was very little in the feeder roller screws.

Re-assemble the imaging unit and run a couple of test patterns through the printer. You'll probably find that the first few pages are especially faint - when you first power up the printer from new, it fills the feed mechanisms from the toner cartridge, I haven't found a way to make it do this again (maybe someone can hack together a maintainence firmware update?). The more you emptied from the feeder, the longer it'll take to even it up. Once it's got the page mostly covered, you're back in business.

After I'd done all this, my banding problem went away! Of course, the bath was covered in toner dust and it took a while to get rid of it all!

I have a problem with the fusor xerox phaser 6125, the display say error 010-397 please help me

That is in fact a problem with the printers fuser, which melts the toner to the paper. You should replace the fuser (part# 675K65654). To replace it open the front door, and at the top right you should see a gray clip you push down and then slide the fuser out starting with the right. When installing the new fuser slide the left side in first and then the right. has this part in stock and ships same day. Hope this helps, good luck. Thanks for using FixYa!

I have a Phaser 6200 Printer and when I print the left side of my copy is very faded. Can you help me?

This could be an issue with several different components. It could be the toner, fuser, or imaging drum. I recommend first replacing the toner as this is probably the cheapest component. After that try replacing the fuser. Fuser kits for this model can be bought off Xerox directly, same as the imaging drum, which is the last thing to think about replacing. It is most likely a problem with the fuser. Parts found here.

Phaser 7300DT, all of a sudden my yellow only prints at the very bottom solid and then really faded throughout the rest of the sheet. The imaging unit is at 54% life remaining and toner is says more than...

Remove the yellow toner cartridge and shake from side to side while keeping the cartridge level. Sounds like the remianing toner in your yellow toner cartridge is not evenly distributed.

The black print jobs have a shadow about 3 inches down the page

I had replaced the fuser - no improvement. I removed the fuser, imaging unit & transfer roller. CAREFULLY using a vacuum cleaner I cleaned all units and the internals of the printer, rotating the roller on the imaging unit to clean all parts. (Warning Place Imaging unit on paper as toner escapes) After a few test prints the page cleared and duplicate ghosting cleared.

Phaser 7300 - one color fading on diagnostics page

Are you using third party toner? That is one thing that causes that problem. Use only xerox toner.
The other thing is that your image unit could have come defected, if it was brand new. Try changing the image unit and that should fix that problem. Good luck. 016-1993-00 image unit & toner 016-1977-00

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps
