Probably hardware damage, but you can try the following "soft" fixes:

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Hello,

Restoring your player can be done in 2 main steps:
>>1. For updating the firmware, the player should be switched to MSC mode.
This could be done through the menu. When not knowing what the display shows, use the forcing method in next link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/sno/0
See the Sansa Clip steps below:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
<<

>> 2. Once connected in MSC mode you can use the firmware updater when having Windows operating system, see next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/kw/firmware%20updater/r_id/101834
<<

For others who have MAC or Linux operating system you can not use the firmware updater: firmware should be manually downloaded from Sansa Forums and installed afterwards:

If this was helpful I'd appreciate your answer.

Nothing but the blue ring lights up

ok..idk if this will work but it might...first turn off the sansa...then turn the hold switch on (it should turn red). hold down the record button on the side of the player..then while still holding that hold the power button down...but keep holding them untill a screen shows up saying something about recovory mode..itll say to plug in the usb..u could do that..idk it that will work..it it doesnt instead of plugging in tthe usb in the computer..wait about 15 seconds after the recovory mode screen shows up and then hold down the power button for about 15-20 sec...then itll go all black (including the blue light) press the power button again like u would to turn it on...and everything should be back to normal..hope this helps...:)

My sansa e250 mp3 player just fell down, after that, when i restarted it it is just showing the blue light but not showing the display on the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Drop it again from a similar height

OK this is going to be hard to believe....the exact thing happened to mine. It dropped about half a meter onto a concrete floor and showed up with a blue screen and wouldnt shut off.
I unscrewed the back panel and unplugged the battery hoping that it would reset. After several restarts and unplugged batteries it was still unresponsive with the blue screen of death. So like any good tech i tried to reproduce the sequence causing the failure. I dropped it onto my work bench and plugged the battery back in. Worked perfectly after that and has continued to work perfectly since (nearly a year later).
I made sure i covered it with one of those cheap silicone covers after to hopefully absorb some shock after i got it working again. After a year of brutal treatment on military exercises this is the one and only problem i've ever had with my sansa.
Good Luck
