You may have the Red Ring Of Death, (RROD) in this case you should take it into a games store/ fixer man and get them to fix it or replace your console. =]

you need to change your power box there is a bad connection with the wires. its over heating you might whant to buy another at game stop or take it in to get fixed. the more you messed with it it might mess up your whole system.

The green light comes on for a couple of seconds then turns red and the game won't come out

This sounds like the "Yellow Light of Death". Does the console power on, flash a yellow light then go back to red, while beeping three times?

This YLOD is caused by excessive heat inside the console. Typically dust builds up and causes the machine to overheat. This damages the internal components. The good news is that a skilled professional can fix your problem.

Three flashing red lights

If you have the 3 red lights this is because the GPU and the CPU have heat up you need to stop the heat, you can send it in to do this or you can fix it with a good repair guide

Three red flashing lights

It sounds as if your over heating there. There are multiple problems that can cause the RROD, but that's usually the one. It's not pretty, but it should help. Check out this page

Flashing and freezing

Xclamp fix will usually do it, or your laser is going in the dvd drive, also try cleaning out your cache on you hard drive. Problems mostly are over heating issues, most I have fixed have a cup of dust in the, everything plugged up with no air flow for cooling.
