SOURCE: the toilet seat has split

Hi, Dayne here,
You can buy a new seat from Lowes or any of those places For 11-20 dollars. If you look at the hinge where the seat mounts to the bowl, with a screw driver, pop open the small access doors on top to expose the screw heads. From underneath, hold the nut with pliers or a wrench and remove both bolts. To install new one just reverse this order.

Thank you.

SOURCE: How do we replace the seat on a Kohler K-3386-0

Kohler will try to sell you $46 anchor bolt kit 84999 & also there special tool. You should expect that for a $400 toilet.

Try this instead:
1. Use 1/8" drill bit and drill and drill around the bolt until the anchor material can be removed.
2. Carefully clean hole with 11/32 drill to remove all remaining acchor material.
3. Go local hardware store & buy a 10 - 32 3/8"X3/4" rubber expansion plug (make certain threaded part is brass & has shoulder on 1 end), a 10 - 32X1.5" Phillips bolt and couple of small fender washers fit the seat.(about $4 for 2)
4. Assemble carefully not to over tighten and crack the porcelain.

Hope it helps

Where is the serial number - toilet is 25 yrs old and need a new toilet seat.

Typically there is no serial number associated with a toilet seat. The seat will either be a round front or an elongated seat. Just make sure the shape is the same when purchasing the replacement seat.

Replacement seat....size???

American Standard is the brand, so you've got a start there, but 1.6 is a flush measurement. Look around the inside for a tank for a model number - with AmStan toilets it's usually a four digit number beginning with a 2 or a 4. This will be what you need to get the OEM toilet seat. However, since toilet seats are purely cosmetic (they don't affect the functioning of the toilet), you can literally take a few measurements and find something that simply keeps you off the porcelain. is a good one for toilet seats, btw.

Check with your local plumbing supply houses. I believe Kohler and Eljer noth made square front bowls at one time. I hope this helps.

What size toilet seat fits a sanicompact elite?

The manual shows that the lid and seat is of an elongated design and I think that you would need to get a direct replacement instead of trying to fit a standard seat/lid combo as a replacement. A normal seat/lid may line up with the fixing holes, but would probably not be the same elongated design.

You should be able to get a direct replacement from your plumbers merchant (may need to order), or from Saniflo directly

If this helps please leave feedback, if not let me know and I'll try and help some more!
