In that case the laser lens inside your dvd-rw is covered in dust - try running a cleaning disk. If the situation doesn't change then the ldust has been baked in the plastic of the lens - the dvd-rw is dead, replace it.

It doesn't recognize/read/play cds or dvds that

Hello there:
first off i would go to device manager and open it and look for the area that says disk drives and open it and look for your cd/dvd right click on it and select remove than confirm removal of the device now at the top of the page you will see view and click on it and where it says scan for hardware change select that and then windows will install the device again you will see new hardware found on the taskbar and it will tell you when the device has been installed and is ready to be used. ok?
i hope that this information is very helpfull for you
please rate this information i have provided for you ok?
best regards mike

DVD RAM not reading the DVD on a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop

did you try to insert other DVDs? if it works then the DVD that you are trying to play is faulty. But if all CDs cannot be read i suspected it's a dvd-rom drive faulty. you need to replace it.

My dvd drive in my computer won't play dvds

1. Completely remove any dvd/cd player/burner softwares (i.e. Nero, Power DVD, etc.).
2. Go to device manager and remove your DVD/CD device from the device list
3. Restart you laptop
4. Windows will then try to reinstall the device drivers again for the DVD drive.
5. After another restart, then reinstall your dvd softwares again.

Laptop CD/DVD drive won't detect CDs but will detect DVDs

sure..go to my computer..and see what disks are there?

if there are none, go to control panel, system device manager, and look at dvd drives and see that there is no marks on it(meaning that it's installed)

if not, remove that drive, click on actions/scan for hardware change, and go

you may need the install vista disk to make that happen, but that's unusual.

check for printer drivers here

Toshiba Satellite A75-S206 DVD\CD-RW drive problem

Hello GeneMat,

I am Romeet,i will try and help you with this problem.Seems it could be an issue with the Combo DVD Drive's Driver Software or Firmware.

Try This:

From your Desktop:

Right Click " My Computer" Icon and select "Properties"

Go to "Hardware" Tab and select "Device Manager"

Under Device Manager, scroll down to the "DVD/CDROM Drives" menu and click on the plus ( + ) Sign next to it

Right Click the Drive name eg " Toshiba DVD-R TSST 2313" and select " Uninstall" Click yes to any prompts and restart your Laptop.

After rebooting, Windows XP should pick up the drivers again, so wait a while for it to complete and until it notifies you that " Windows successfully completed installing your new hardware" or something to that effect and then try using the software cds again

Best of luck!

Regds
