GPS Simulator....To use the gps for typical navigation, while moving, touch Off. To simulate a route while Not Moving touch ON

If yo go to Tools... Help .... look around in there, lots of great info about the unit and easy to understand.

Gps-simulator

The GPS Simulator mode is a mode where the unit will not look for satellites. instead, it will show simulated satellite receive signals on the satellite reception screen and allow you to simulate driving to the destination that you programmed into it. You will be able to see each turn just as if you were really driving on the road.

My daughter is driving to ohio and after part of the way here, the gps stopped working. When she enters the address it says 'gps is off" but it is clearly on and working.

Check unders tools, pick settings, them pick system. Make sure the GPS Simulator is off. When on it will tell you the GPS is off when you add an address, and ask you if you want to Simulate driving this route. This is on my Nuvi 1370T.

Hello,

Either you are in GPS simulator mode or you are unable to receive satellite signals. go into your tools menu Tools > Settings > System > "check if GPS simulator is activated". De activate if it is and your unit should work fine, if this dosent work try giving the unit an update using Garmins WebUpdater software it can be obtained from this link http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp.

Hope this helps!

When i turn my garmin nuvi 255 on it tells me that the GPS IS OFF

Your GPS might be in simulation mode. Try going into the tools and settings and i'm not sure which icon to click on but it will allow you to change it off of the simulation mode if that is the problem.

Why would one turn " GPS Simulator" on or off ? What does this do for me?

hi, you didnt mention what model gps you have, but most gps simulation do the same thing. if you have the simulation activated (some models are on by default, others are off by default) once you put in an address for the gps to guide you, the gps (if in simulation mode) will show you the coarse you will be taken, before you start out.

so if your in NY and plot a coarse for California, it will show you moving along the plotted coarse...thats going to take quite a while to view since the simulation will move along at what ever the posted speed limit is along the route, so its kinda like watching grass grow unless it doesn't take much to amuse the person watching the simulation. it is quite handy in that it allows you to view turns and intersections ect ect ect before you ever get to them.

hope this makes sense...let me know if i need to explain it better, but if you turn on the simulation mode then enter an address, you'll see what i mean.

My Nuvi is stuck in "Simulating GPS" mode. How do I get it back to live mode?

Press the menu button on the nuvi, then press the system or the simulation button, and tell it the simulation off or disable. I have a older model, and it is under system menu.

I have a gps 255 and i have a question

When driving I suggest, leave it turned on, when the unit is turned to simulator, the gps is turned off to save battery power. I assume that it just works like a map,but it does not know your exact location.

The word simulator means the imitation of some real thing.
Flight simulator, makes it seam like flying a plane.

Simulation is where it simulates where your trip will take you. Enter a new destination and don't select simulate trip.

Garmin Demo

Demo? or do you mean it simulates the route?
Upon completion of a route calculation it asks if you want to simulate the trip. Just select NO. Or is there an SD card in the zumo with a demo program on it?
