Sounds like you need to open the sharing section of the printer set up, and set it for sharing on the network

HP Laserjet 5000 offline

If this is a network printer then it's picked up a different IP address than the computer saw last time.

You can get the HP to print it's settings for you via the menus system on the printer. When you have the IP address go to your PC and make the driver use that address.

Hi,

Go to system settings and select the 'Printer' option.

Right-click on the printer and enable the 'Use Printer Online' function.

Cancel all the printing jobs till that moment and redo the process.

Sometimes the 'Printer Offline' message occurs due to a 'Job Stuck' issue.

Check all network connections and functions.

Be sure the network interfaces work properly.

Turn the printer off and on to see whether the device is working properly.

My hp c8180 printer is showing to be offline. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled driver. It worked fine when I printed the test page, then it went offline again. BTW -- it is hooked up to a router....

Go into the network setup on the printer and set it up as a static IP address. If you go into the network settings on the printer and select the manual configuration. Then go to your computer and hit Start > Run > and type CMD and hit enter. This will bring up command prompt. Type ipconfig into the command prompt and hit enter. This will show you the ip address your computer is using. It is most likely something like 192.168.1.1. Go on your printer and make the first three sets of digits the same, and change the last digit to something like .25. Then enter everything else in the printer the same as it is on your computer. This should alleviate any problems your printer has.

Printer status reads "printer offline"

Could be several things causing this. You said it is a network printer, but then said primary computer is XP. Is it hooked to the XP machine? From my experience, printers on XP machines occasionally lose their drivers. Go to the XP machine and make sure the printer is in the printer folder, and active. Do a test print to be sure. Then make sure it is still shared (things like this can change with updates). If all this is OK, go to the Vista machine and remove the printer. Then go to add printers, and add a network printer. Sometimes, if it is a network printer, it will show up in "my network" - if so, right click and add printer. If you add the printer usually the computer will use the currently installed drivers. If it is a shared printer, go to network, double click the XP machine, and the shared printer should be there. right click and add. Once you have it working, go to printers and delete or remove the faded-out printers that don't work and be sure to set the newly installed printer as your default.

Hp deskjet 6980 will not change to online. Working wirelessly. It says Offline and can't be changed to Online. I have to reinstall everytime.

Right click printer properties and select online. Start /settings /printers. Offline can also indicate a connection is not available - this occurs with demo versions of printer software. When the demo expires, the printer goes offline. The fix is to just use windows networking and shared printer.

Status on print job says offline dell m5200

a few questions:

-Do you know this printer IP?
-Can you ping this printer?
-How many printers do you have on your network?
-Did all the printers on your network offline or just this printer?
-Did you check the network cable that connected to your printer?

solution:
-you might try to restart printer spooling service on your print server
or
-If your server is still functional, you might try to reinstall/set up this printer on network

Printer not receiving jobs from computers in office..HELP!

what type of connector do you use? if its network printing then check ip address, cable, and the network card of the machine if it shows light, if its usb cable check the driver or cable.
note: make sure when you press the print buttom on the machine it doesnot show offline! if it shows offline you cannot print hit go or start to make it online.
if none of this work, reset the machine by hitting 1087 twice this will take you to maintenance mode then hit 906 then start, highlight the words that come on screen by your finger then hit start, the machine will ask you to put the main power on and off, do that and you will be fine.
Best Regards

Printer offline

1) Ensure you've run the D-Link supplied automatic configuration wizard. 2) Also ensure you have "Netbios over TCP/IP" enabled in your network settings. 3)Ensure you turn off "Bidirectional Printing" in the Ports tab and "Enabled Advanced printing features" in the advanced tab, for testing purposes. I know the printer connectivity is officially supported by D-Link (thru an independent 3rd party test facility) but it seems they may have had NetBeui installed, which is an outdated networking protocol. Try the first 3 options I gave, if they don't work, then let me know. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
